"Hey man, why'd you have to push my friend around and wake me up?" The silhouette spoke. I'm assuming that's Natsu or whoever the cat was calling me earlier.
"I'm reallyyyy sorry," I began, "I came in hoping to get some water, you see I've been traveling and-"
"Then how come the refrigerator is open in the kitchen, and I can smell a ton of food in your backpack?" He countered, started to stalk towards me.
"Good going Rini. You obviously should've shut the fridge door" Poppy whispered to me. I silently cursed her for deciding to be a smartass now of all times.
"Listen, I don't want any trouble. I just really need to get going." I looked nervously at the door, seeing it starting to get slightly lighter out.
"Why? So you can go rob another guild of their food?" He said accusingly. I flinched at his words. I knew what I was doing was wrong on so many levels, but what else was I supposed to do? I was starving, tired, and being chased by a killer pack of ice wolves that I couldn't defeat. I was pretty damn desperate at this point.
"I don't want to fight you." I simply said, now realizing the situation I'd gotten myself into.
"Well, I do." It was light enough out now that I could see his pink hair and wide grin that now stretched across his face. His hands lit up in flames, shocking me a little. "Great, this is the dude that I wanted to deal with the wolves." I started to panic. The lighter it got, the sooner the wolves would melt out of their icy trap.
"Please, please just let me go on my way. I don't have much time left." I knew I could take this guy easily, because he was fire and I was water, but I had no time to do so. The wolves would be out of the ice soon, and I'd have barely any time to escape.
"What do you mean you don't have any time left? What the hell are you talking about? Just fight me!" He yelled, charging at me. I guess I'd just have to get this done and over with quickly. I shot a water torpedo at him. He was shot into the left side wall of the guild, where his exceed tried to help him up. I took this as my chance, sprinting out the door, into the open air.
"We made it Poppy!" I said smiling as she flew next to me, looking relieved yet still worried. But my happiness was short lived. I heard a bark, and to my horror, I turned my head as I was running to see the wolves breaking free.
"We weren't quick enough" I whispered, quickening my sprint as tears started forming in my eyes. I didn't have enough energy to run enough to get these guys off my trail, and Poppy didn't have enough energy to fly me away.
"Poppy, I need you to go get that guy from the guild. I don't think I'm gonna make it, so if I don't, I need you to stay at that guild. They will keep you safe." I saw tears pouring down her face.
"You're not going to die Rini! I'm not leaving you alone"
"You have to. I need to fight them off for as long as I can, and I can't bear to see you get hurt." The rest of the wolves had started breaking out of the ice, and we're now chasing us, just like a few hours prior. She was still crying, which hurt my heart, but I needed her to leave. I couldn't have her seeing me get ripped to shreds as I tried to defend myself, and I definitely couldn't let her get killed trying to help me.
"You better still be alive when I get back, or else I'll kill you." She said, as she started to turn to fly back to the guild. I chuckled a little at her threat.
"I love you Poppy! Always remember that!" I shouted as she flew away faster than I've ever seen her move, even when we were being chased. I felt my legs start to use up the last of whatever energy they had left, and decided it was time for me to face these damn wolves. I turned, ready to beat them, or die trying.Poppy's POV
I broke through the large doors of the guild, not caring that there was now a few more people minding their own business in the hall.
"Please! Please, someone help me!" I screamed, hoping to get someone's attention. The more time I wasted, the closer Rini was to death.
"Hey, you're the exceed from earlier. Where's the chick that ran from our fight?" The pink haired guy from earlier approached me.
"She's currently in a life or death situation with a pack of ice wolves. You have to help us, please! She'll die if no one goes to help her right now!" I was starting to get extremely desperate. She could already be torn up and bleeding to death right now, which is something I never want to see or even have to think about.
"Alright, I'll come help. But she better be ready to do a lot of explaining after I save her ass." He said. I nodded, flying back out the doors. I just hope we aren't too late.
