#36: You Have Cancer (Part Two) - preferencesfordirectioners

Liam: You sit in the same doctor’s chair you did a year ago, when he told you had cancer. Now, you are back again, hoping for much better news this time. You nervously bounce your leg up and down as you grip Liam’s hand tight enough to constrict a significant amount of blood flow, but he doesn’t stop you. Your doctor comes in the room with your file in hand again. He sits down in his chair and looks at you. He smiles and says, “The test results came back. There is no evidence of cancer. Congratulations, Miss (Y/L/N).” You jump up and hug the doctor, not caring that it’s awkward. You look back at your boyfriend and see him crying. You touch his arm and say his name softly. He gets up and wraps you up tightly in his arms, crushing you to his chest. “I almost lost you,” he mutters in your ear. “Nothing is ever going to try take you from me ever again. You’re mine, (Y/N).”

Louis: You fumble with your phone because you’re shaking from excitement. You dial Louis’s cell number, be he doesn’t pick up. You groan in frustration, thinking that he’s got to be working. You dial Paul instead and he answers. “Paul, I need to talk to Louis, right now. it’s really, really important,” you tell him. “Give me a second, (Y/N),” Paul mutters. “Here he is. Make it quick,” he tells you a few tense seconds later. “Lou,” you breath out, “Lou, there’s no cancer. All the tests came back negative.” He pauses for a second before he starts screaming from excitement. “LADS!” Louis screamed. “THERE’S NO CANCER!” You can’t help but laugh at your silly boyfriend. “Come. Fly out and see me. I need to see you,” Louis breathes out. “Will you?” You laugh again and say, “I already booked the flight, Lou. I’ll be there tomorrow afternoon.” You can hear the smile in his voice as he says, “You’re okay. I just, I’m so happy right now. I love you so much, baby. I knew you were strong enough. I’m talking rubbish. I’m sorry. I love you, I really do. Paul’s making me go now, but I’m calling you as soon as I can. I promise. Okay. I love you, again. Oh my gosh, bye, love!” You smile to yourself, thinking that you’re finally okay again.

Zayn: You plop down in the doctor’s chair, feeling angrier more than anything else. You’d been in this situation before. Everyone had been so happy. This time, you’re pissed because you had to go through everything again. You were bald, again. You almost died, again. Now you were getting results, again. You feel like this is just some sick cycle, but Zayn, now your fiancé, doesn’t. He’s so incredibly nervous. His whole body tenses as the doctor enters. He smiles at you and says, “It’s gone, (Y/N). The cancer is gone.” You pause and say, “Are you sure this time? You’ve said that before and look where I ended up, again.” He smiles wider and says, “We’re as sure as we can be.” Zayn stands up, tears in his eyes, and thanks the doctor profusely. You let the feeling wash over you, letting your frustration and anger leave. You are going to be okay. Zayn grabs your hand and pulls you out of the doctor’s office, knowing how much you hate it there. “Marry me,” he says. You laugh and point to the ring on your finger. He shakes his head, “Right now. Today. Let’s go. You and me.” You smile and say, “Why now?” He smiles and says, “Is there going to be a better time than right now?” He was right. There isn’t a better time.

Harry: “It’s going to be okay,” Harry reassures you for the thousandth time that day. You’re getting you test results back today to see if you need to continue treatment or not. Nervous is an understatement. Harry runs a hand over his buzzed head. He always said he’d buzz it for charity, but when you told him you thought you looked ugly because you were bald, he buzzed it off, badly, himself and then had Lou clean it up for him the next day. That was eight months ago and his head was still buzzed, for you. The doctor comes in and says, “I have good news and bad news.” You grip Harry’s hand tightly as you wait for the doctor to finish, “The good news is there is no sign of cancer at all. The bad news is you’re both going to have to start buying shampoo again.” Harry immediately takes out his phone and makes you take a picture with him, both of you smiling with tears in your eyes. He’s been making you take a lot of pictures when you were sick. You knew he wanted as many as he could if something happened to you. He tweets the new picture with the tagline: “Looks like neither one of us is going to be bald anymore. TAKE THAT CANCER! (Y/N) IS CANCER FREE! Love this girl more than anything in the world. #proudboyfriend #thebestgirlfriendever #thecurlsarereturning” You laugh and say, “The curls are returning? Really, Haz?” He laughs and says, “Cancer is out, so in come the curls.” He brings his lips to your ear and says, “I’m so proud of you, baby. I love you so much.”

Niall: You’d just gotten back from the doctor’s office. You knew you didn’t have cancer anymore, but your boyfriend Niall who is away on tour doesn’t know yet. You Skype him when you get home. He’s sitting there with not only the other boys, but Eleanor, Danielle, Perrie, and the entire crew. “So?” Niall ask you. You hold up the official results page and say, “I kicked cancer’s butt! No more cancer!” Everyone starts to cheer on the other end of the Skype call, except for Niall. He starts to cry. Harry kindly pats Niall’s blonde hair and says, “I’m patting him because you can’t, (Y/N).” You laugh and say, “Thanks, Harry.” Niall looks up at you and says, “I’m so proud of you, baby.” You smile and says, “I’m pretty darn pleased with myself too.” He laughs and says, “I miss you loads. Are you flying out tomorrow?” You nod and he says, “Perfect, because I’ve got something really important to ask you.” He holds up a small, black ring box before he kisses the camera and says, “I’ve got to go rehearse. I love you! And I’m so proud of you. Took two years, but you won, baby!”
