"Yeah, you can come with us, but only if you help us get into that mall." Louis said.
"You must be crazy if you think we're gonna help you! Have you seen what those things do?" Layla tightened her grip on the gun.
"Hey babe, lower your gun. We never asked for your help. The offer still stands, but only if you come with us. It's as simple as that."
As if on cue, we both lowered our guns. Louis and Liam walked past us and began to trek down the hill, revealing their weapons.
"Wait! Liam wait! I'll help!" We needed a safe place to stay. It was the least I could do for my mother, and most importantly, my sister Ann.
I cocked my gun and began to fire, the sad faces of each monster being exstinguished.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" Louis yelled. "THE SOUND DRAWS THEM!"
The remainder of them began to turn around, making their way to the fence closest to the hill. They pushed and clawed at the gate, loud moaning sounds escaping their lungs.
"SHIT!" Louis exclaimed. He pulled a kniffe out of his back pocket, plunging it into their skulls from the other side of the fence.
"DON'T JUST STAND THERE BABE! DO SOMETHING!" Liam looked straight at me.
Layla looked at me in shock and ran off into the other direction towards the forest. What the hell? Just leave me, in my pajamas, alone with two strangers. And did you forget, there are zombies everywhere? Great.
Hesitating I raced down the hilI, as Louis and Liam were my only way of finding my direction back to the camp.
The crowd of drones overwhelmed the gate, knocking it over.
"Shoot! LIAM! Shoot them!" Louis yelled, running out of options.
Right there, Liam unloaded on every one of them. Blood and guts flew everywhere.
Suddenly, I felt a hand on my leg. It began to pull, dragging me to the ground. I looked up, revealing a face covered in rotten flesh and decaying teeth. It's white, cold eyes seemed to stare straight into my soul. I struggled to push it away as it peristed to rip me apart.
"GRRHHHRHAWW!" It let out the most terrifying scream that I had ever heard.
My heart began to race as it's hands covered my face, it's mouth advancing towards my neck. I was too horrified to yell.
The shooting stopped.
"Sorry buddy, not today." Liam said as he pulled the corpse off me, smashing its brains in.
I took a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, but I'm sure I can handle myself." I replied, embarrassed that I hadn't done anything sooner.
"Really love? I'm not sure if you just witnessed what happened, but there was a flesh eating dead guy on top of you! This isn't elementary, babe. Look around." Liam was telling the truth.
I got on my feet and gazed at the decaying corpses lying in the parking lot. Each and every one of them lay dormant. With the area cleared we could now advance into the mall.
"Let's go. It looks safe enough." Louis began walking towards the entrance.
"EVELYN! EV!" I turned around to see Layla emerge from the forest. "I'm sorry! I was scared! I didn't know what to do." She stumbled and tripped down the hill.
"It doesn't matter. C'mon." I replied. I was pretty pissed at her for leaving me all by myself, but that was Layla for you.
The door to the mall was locked, so Liam just shot it off.
"I thought you said the noise draws them?" I asked.
"It does, but how else do you think we're getting in here?"
I couldn't argue.
The mall was dark and eerie without anybody in it. Mannequins lined the windows of each store, sporting the latest fashion trends.
"What are we looking for?" The awkward silence was killing me.
"Basics. Water, clothing, food." Louis answered.
Being that they had just saved my life, I wondered why they were so cold.
"Where are you guys from?" I asked.
"Obviously not the US." Louis replied.
"I'm from Wolverhampton, Louis is from Doncaster." Liam was being the most friendly out of the two.
"What are you doing all the way here, out in LA? That's a little far from home." I questioned, laughing.
"We're on tour with our mates. We just so happened to be playing a show when the world went to shit. Those things, they entered the arena, and caused total chaos. We had just enough time to escape in the tour bus." Louis was beginning to come out of his shell. "What about you two?"
"I was born and raised here. Layla is from Utah." Finally, a conversation.
"You have a camp?" Liam asked.
"Yeah, but it's kind of crappy." Layla came out of silence.
Liam giggled. "We were lucky. Our motel was completely untouched, Each room has it's own key. It's literally inpenetrable."
"Lucky you." Layla said in a monotone voice.
We turned and entered the R.E.I., grabbing anything useful. I walked down stairs looking for Louis when something caught my eye, a little beam of light shot out from the door in front of me. I swung the door open, and there stood a plethera of zombies.
