There was only one person on my mind:
Harry.
Where the hell could he be?
My blood turned to ice and my heart began to beat incontrolablly as the moans got closer and closer.
Harry, please be alright.
Louis ducked underneath a nearby truck while Liam helped Sophia into dumpster towards the side of the motel.
He held her dainty hand, pulling the lid closed softly behind him.
"Shit!" I whispered. Gemma looked at me in dismay.
"What the hell is your problem? We need to get out of sight!" She tugged my arm pulling me into the Breakfast Buffet behind us.
Without making a peep she shut the blinds, dispersing a cloud of dust into the air. I let out a muffled cough, but covered my mouth as the sound of the fence clinging filled my ears.
"Dammit!" Gemma exclaimed. She began to pace around the room, muttering things to herself.
The Breakfast Buffet didn't have a lock on the door, and we needed to figure something out quick. Ever so quietly I peeled back the blinds, just to get a perspective on the volume of the situation. What seemed like hundreds of those things, bombarded the gate. The pole began to bend as each and every one of them put more and more pressure on the rickety old thing. After it reached it's capacity, it fell to the ground, releasing the monsters onto the premises.
"Oh my god, Gemma! They've knocked the fences down!" I whispered in desperation.
Her eyes widened as she began searching for a place to hide.
I ran behind the counter, starting to unload everything from the cabinets.
"AHHH!" I shrieked, dropping a plate onto the ground. A giant brown cockroach had scurried across my foot, and instinctively I covered my mouth to try and take back the noise I had just made.
Gemma frowned and rushed to my side. The groans got more and more close, making my heart jump everytime one fluctuated in the air.
"Get in!" I whispered, pulling her into the cupboard beside me. Closing the door I squeezed her hand tight. We were terrified.
As the sweat dripped down my forehead, all I could think about was Harry.
Where is he? Is he ok?
If only I hadn't told him to go, he would be right here next to me.
It sounded like Gemma was having quite a struggle with her lungs, as her breaths became more and more labored.
I began to shake as I heard the door to the buffet swung open, and things began to clang to the floor.
I squeezed Gemma's hand so very tightly that she winced in pain. The noises got closer, and the sounds of stumbling got even louder.
"AGHGHHGFHG!" A tear rolled down my cheek as I realized there was one right in front of the cabinet door. And directly in front of us.
I put my other hand over my mouth to silence my breathing.
I don't want to die. Not today, not without my family. Or Harry.
Suddenly, there was a scream, then gunshots, and then a cry for help.
"BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!" I listened as the gunshots became more evident.
The monster in front of the cupboard let out another moan, before it stumbled away, making the floorboards creak.
I let out a sigh of relief, weakening my grip on Gemma's hand.
She looked over at me, releasing a half smile.
After a plethera of more gunshots, it became silent.
I could hear footsteps making their way towards the cupboard, but they were human footsteps. Structured and patternly.
The cabinet swung open, and there stood Harry.
His face was rough, he looked scared.
"I thought you two were dead!" He let out, reaching to pull us up.
I embraced him, not worried of what Gemma thought.
"Where were you? What happened?" I exclaimed, looking into his emeralds. They were dark again, but still comforting.
Tucking a strand of hair behind my ear he began, "I was washing up in the back when I heard the fence. I reached for my pistol and ran to the ladder to the rooftop. After exhausting several clips, I cleared a path for Louis, who had enough time to join me. We took them all out, but I couldn't stop thinking about you two." He looked so relieved.
He let me go, and I felt cold.
"Gemma kept me strong." I smiled.
Harry giggled, and it made my heart flutter.
There was a scream.
"What the hell was that?" He frowned. His whole demeanor changed.
We ran out to the parking lot, Harry leading with his pistol held infront of him.
Eleanor and Louis stood covering what lay before them. I gently pushed Eleanor out of the way to see what was happening, and I wish I hadn't.
There sat Liam, holding Sophia's bloodsoaked, lifeless body.
