Chapter 5 Rest in paradise?

Chapter 5 rest in paradise? (Valenta’s P.O.V)

When I woke up I was shocked to see Aaron putting Angels bridle on ,what the hell Angel hated people touching him obviously my shock rushed through all the bonds because they all quickly glanced my way.

“we thought we would let you sleep, a bit later…princess” Ross’s deep voice was like a beautiful wakeup call immediately putting me in a good mood until the ‘princess’ part but id ignore that for now. I gave them a small smile and a slight nod as a thank you and stood up to finish tacking ,I needed to bathe the half scrub thing I’d been doing until now wouldn’t cut it.

“guys are we going past any lakes or rivers any time soon?”

“yeah, the Kaluti rivers just over that hill and there’s stunning falls about 200m up.”

“awesome we going there!”

“Valenta that’s out of the way and its unnecessary you can go sightseeing another time.”Ross’s raspy morning voice was deep and stern and somehow even while he was denying me I still found it sexy.

“I need to bathe its totally necessary.” They both turned towards me looked t me for about five minutes then finally Ross muttered a fine and jumped into his, saddle grabbing some fruit out my bag I chucked two to angel and began eating one myself. Getting into the saddle and the trying to strap my breastplate I eventually got it right and followed on behind the two men ,today I was very aware of my surroundings and any slight sound had me spinning my head in its direction. I was also starving but not for food for power ,I would catch myself thinking about draining Aaron or how Ross’s energy would taste my thoughts slowly overwhelming me.

“Valenta!” Aarons powerful voice brought me back to reality.

“w-what?” why the hell was he shouting.

“we’ve been calling you for the last ten minutes the falls are just through those bushes you can go.”   

I attempted the best smile I could as I walked past them ant through the veil of Cuccuno leaves only to see the most magnificent falls with sparkling blue water I stripped my armor and my clothes and dived into the deep water it felt amazing not to cold but it did have a refreshing hint to it I my hair flowed through the water and I felt free as I splashed around in the beautiful waters .Angel was also in the water but only up to his chest .I looked down and saw something gold flashing under the water shock hit me as I noticed what it was I dived down to retrieve it. Much to my dismay I was right it was Natalie’s crest all of her soldiers bore them and this ones tracker was on.

“what Valenta are you ok!” both men ran through the bushes shouting in unison. I quickly covered up what I could only to look up at Aarons reddening face and Ross’ facing the other way. He called Aaron and they retreated to where they came from ,they must have felt my shock through the bond when I found the crest ,remembering the crest I rushed out the water and got dressed in my second set of clothes with my armor ,Angel was out and tacked in seconds and we re-joined with the two men who refused to look me in the eye.

“uuuh sorry about that we, umm thought you were in trouble.”

“its fine we need to get going and gallop this next stretch if possible.”

“why ? I’m all for getting there on time but  a gallop is hardly necessary you aren’t fit enough.”

“because Natalie’s on her way or one of her squadrons are I found a tracker in the river.”

They both looked at me figuring that’s what I was shocked about and nodded. With that I let my reins drop and Angel let loose he was fast I knew he was fast but I’d never felt this speed before he ran and even Ross was struggling to keep up Aaron kept teleporting to stay in our general area as there was no way his 16h mare could keep up with our huge stallions. I could see Request didn’t like being behind Angel but well angel was faster so he’d have to deal with it. Soon we all came to a halt Aaron teleported right next to me. We had been going through this lycan territory for a while now and hadn’t seen any sign that they knew we were here we stood on the spot just waiting until confusion got the best of me and I had to ask

“guys there’s no way we getting across that river alive ,what’s the plan.” My question was met by silence I looked at the vast kirkey river with its rough currents and just down the way I saw rapids  and wondered how the hell we forgot about it, we couldn’t wait here this was a strong lycan pack and once they find us there’s absolutely no way we leave not alive at least.  When I looked up I was shocked to see the water parting and a clear path for us to walk across. We started walking and quickly got to the other side. There was a thick line of tree’s in front of us I was skeptical we didn’t know what could be hiding behind those trees like he read my mind Aaron and Clara disappeared ,wait maybe he did read my mind we did have the link. Oh well not like it matters for once my thoughts weren’t embarrassing.

He arrived back and said the coast was clear I could feel excitement radiating off him through the bond this worried me what did he possibly have to be excited for?

Pushing away my thoughts I skeptically stepped onto the tiny path leading through the dense wall of trees as we neared the opening I saw what got Aaron soo excited it was beautiful a huge green Valley lay ahead of us with a tiny stream running through the center and almost every fruit tree I knew of grew in the valley and kikabons growing in little patches on the floor. This was heaven ,absolute paradise.

“are we going to stay here for the night” I asked skeptically even though I was hoping we were.

“you don’t think it seems a bit to good to be true.” Ross’s deep voice dragging me back to reality with the sad truth it probably was way to good to be true.

“maybe but it is getting late so we better get moving.”I said trying not to sound disappointed.

“Ross we wont make it out of the valley before night fall we should stay here we can collect some fruit and find a semi secluded space at least we won’t be out in the open.” Aaron was right we wouldn’t make it out but was it really safe to stay here?

“ok.” Was the only response I could see Ross thought this was a bad idea.

We hadn’t even found a safe place to rest yet and the sun had fallen behind the hills hours ago. Eventually we just sat down on the lush grass and waited for sleep to overcome us but just before it did the stars seemed to falter like they were all turned off for a second no one else seemed to notice so I didn’t make anything of it. With that one fleeting thought I fell asleep.
