Mitchell
"Come on buddy, let's go see if your new mommy likes you." I whispered setting Max down. He sat down and looked up at me as I opened the box.
I carefully picked him up and placed him inside it. He had his stuffed toy in with him and he instantly began chewing on it. I shut the lid and opened the door when I heard a loud cry.
I set the box down carefully and ran towards the sound. I opened our door and Isabella was asleep and crying and moving around.
I ran over and shook her gently and she opened her eyes. She pushed up and wiped her under eye.
"I fell asleep because I was so tired! I didn't mean too!" She cried and I pulled her into my chest and held onto her.
"I know you're tired. Look I got something for you." I said wiping away her tears.
"Is it food? I'm kind of hungry." She whispered.
"We will go out after and get food. Come see." I said standing up and taking her hand.
We walked out where the tv was and the pink wrapped box sat in the ground.
"Mitchell what is that?" She asked.
"Open it." I said. She stepped forward carefully and grabbed the lid and pushed it up and Max stood up and hit it with his nose. She instantly dropped the lid and turned back.
"Is that...?" She asked trailing off and Max began to whine. She took off the lid and Max jumped up putting his front paws on the box.
"Oh my God! It's so cute." She gushed picking him up and cradling him into her arms. He licked her chin and wagged his tail and she laughed cuddling into him.
"Aww hi baby." She cooed.
"He was the last one in the litter, they named him Max and he was past the puppy date. He is three and a half months old and the runt of the litter which is why he is so small." I explained rubbing his head.
"Oh he is so cute! And what's this? Is this your ducky Max?" She asked grabbing the yellow duck. He pushed out of her arms and grabbed the duck and began gnawing on him.
"Aw he is so cute." She whispered.
"Good I was hoping you'd like him. He doesn't have anything yet so we have to hit the pet store." I explained and she looked down at her around the house clothes.
"Okay! Let me change!" She smiled running to our bedroom. Max galloped after her and looked down the hall and began howling.
"Oh she's coming right back!" I chuckled and he sat down and patiently looked down the hall.
I heard the door open and he stood up and ran down the hallway.
"I heard you howling!" She laughed. Bella came around the corner holding him and I stood up and held onto his leash.
We walked outside and down to my car and she held onto Max as we drove out of the parking garage. He took her mind off of her dream which was good. He lazily cuddled into her chest and his eyes began to droop close.
"He's so cute. Thanks Mitchell." She smiled while rubbing his head.
"You're welcome, love. Anything to make you happy." I said grabbing her hand and kissing her knuckles.
"I really do appreciate it." She smiled blushing slightly. She was so cute I couldn't handle it. I just smiled at her and kissed her hand multiple times.
