Chapter one- Surprise Meting

Chapter 1

I looked over to the 'popular' table, there she was the girl who I hated most in the world, Alexis Cater. She sat at a crowded table yet nobody sat directly next to her, she flipped her long, dark brown hair and laughed at something one of the meat-headed footballers said.

"I wish I was more like her." Said a soft voice. I looked over to were the voice was coming from. The soft voice belonged to a short, slim girl, the girl was fairly pretty although she had a thick layer of make-up on her face.

"Why would you want to be like her? I'm sure she's just a mean,self centred brat who cares more about the clothes she wears than her future." I ranted to the short girl. She looked at me in a way that said that she was thinking out loud.

It seemed that more than just the girl had heard me because everyone at the 'popular' table was now staring at me. the bell rang just in time, and everyone headed for class.

"Hey! Kid with the glasses!" some guy shouted in the class, I just ignored the idiot.

'SLAM!' A fist hit my desk. I decided to look up at the person who the fist belonged to. It was James Clinton, captain of the football team. James was big, in fact he was huge and had short hair that was dyed bleach blond, his eyes were dark, I didn't know what colour.

"Hey! I was talking to you NERD!" I just starred at him as he shouted. I knew all to well that he was going to talk to me about what happened at lunch. "How dare you say that about her! You don't know anything! What gives you the right to say that about Alexis, GEEK!"

I just starred as that's the only thing I could do, if I opened my mouth I would get killed and if I tried to move I'd get killed. So what other options were there than to do nothing. To my amazement James started to move away and then I saw that it was because the teacher had just walked in, what luck.

The rest of the day went by fast, luckily I managed to avoid James and the rest of the footballers at lunch and had no classes with them. I guess luck was on my side today.

When I got home I ran straight up to my room to get ready for work, it was my first day so I didn't want to be late. I looked in the mirror. I decided to wear a smart black shirt with some faded jeans, many people would be surprised that I even own a pair of jeans as they thought I was just the 'geek' they see at school. I decided that I looked fine and just ran my fingered through my longish, dark blond hair. I ran down the stairs, grabbed my phone and car keys and ran out of the house leaving a note for my mom saying that I'd be home by about half seven.

As I sat in my car I couldn't wait to get to my new job as my mom had only just allowed me to have one because I was now 18, before she said that I should just concentrate on my study's but I finally wore her down.

I finally got to my new work place, the game store. I walked in and looked at shelves of games, phones, game consoles and accessories. The selves where black wood and most of the where cabinets with clear plastic screens. There was an old arcade game in the far corner of the shop, the game was Pac-man, an old classic. I walked over to the desk/till where a man in about his late 40's sat.

"Hello, I'm Conner Reiley. I'm the new part-time worker." I said politely to the man at the till. He had grey hair an sunglasses on even though he was inside, he was very big and had a lip piecing, his name read; Drake Bear.

" Oh so your the newbie. Go to that door over there." He said grumpily as he pointed to a black door.

I walked slowly to the black door and knocked twice, I waited for a reply. After a minute or two I was about to knock again when I heard a man shout 'Come in.' I opened the door slowly and as I did this it creaked. I walked in closing the door behind me and walking to the far end of the room to a brown wooden desk, the room was not that big not did it have much furniture but the walls were covered with different certificates and posters.

"Are you Conner Reiley?" the small,skinny man sitting at the desk asked.

"Yes, I'm Conner, the new part-time worker." I said politely.

"Okay, so you will start to day. You will work from Monday to Friday. Work start at four and ends at seven. You will only be allowed a fifteen minute break and use this time to do things such as use the bathroom and eat." The man explained quickly. "You will be working with another part-timer during your shift. That person will show you the ropes." As he said that I just hat to ask. "Is the other part-timer that guy at the desk?" The man seemed to chuckle at my question.

"No, he is just hear today the rest of the time he works after or before your shift. Your coworker will be here in a bit, she's running a bit late."

As soon as I walked out of the mangers office I heard a girls voice, she sounded younger than i expected I imagined a women in her early thirties with at least two face piercings.

As I looked over to see who my coworker was I froze in a instant as I saw who I was going to be working with, it was Alexis Cater.
