Chapter Nine- Unrecognisable

Chapter 9

Conners POV

In English I sat in my usual chair by the wall but to my surprise everyone just stared at me as if I had grown a second head. What's their problem?

Suddenly everyone's head turns to face the front as the teacher, Miss Mill, walked in.

"Oh, I didn't know we had a new student today." She inquired looking in my direction.

Was she really looking at me? I knew I looked different but not that different, I mean seriously she didn't even know who I am.

"What's your name dear?" she asked in her hight pitched voice.

Really?

"Umm Miss...I'm not new. I'm Conner Reiley." I said in a nervous voice, every pair of eyes in the room were on me.

"Oh, I'm so sorry Conner- I didn't recognise you without your glasses." Miss Mill apologised studying me.

After that class went quickly and so did the rest of my classes. I made my way to the cafeteria and picked up a tray.

"£2.40" the lunch lady stated with a bored expression.

I payed then started to make my way over to a free table, I sat there alone like always.

"Conner! Come over to our table." Ordered a girls voice. I looked up to see who the voice belonged to- Ashley.

There in front of me stud Ashley with her long golden locks perfectly curled, she had changed out of her running clothes and now wore a knee length pink dress with a white belt. Next to her stud Holly and Tia, Holly had short, blonde hair which was always down, she was wearing a short, black skirt and a white shirt which was tucked in to her skirt; Tia had long, silky brown hair which she wore in a lose side pony, she was wearing some denim shorts with a checkered shirt tucked in to them.

"What?" I asked in pure shock; first I thought Ashley was skipping school today and seconded why was she talking to me in public!

"Oh come on Conner, I told you that you could sit with me at the popular table so whit on earth are you sitting hear?" she said pulling my hand to come with her.

I noticed that everyone around us was now watching so I couldn't embarrass her by saying no.

I got up with my tray and walked with her to the table.

At the table sat; Kelly,Tara,Grace,Jake,Mick,Tom,Brian, Alexis, Mary,Louise,Kim,Henry,Drake and worst of all- James.

Why was James here? Of corse he's here, he is probable the most popular guy in the school... But Ashley and him have just broken up. Why would they be sitting at the same table?

"What's he doing here?" asked Kelly flicking her long brown locks, she sounded disgusted that I was standing there.

Ashley gave her a challenging look and Kelly didn't even try to argue or even stare back she just sat back with a sheepish look.

"Sorry..." she whispered and a look of triumph spread across Ashley's face.

"Don't worry about it and this is Conner he will be sitting here from now on." She announced, no one said anything I guess they already knew that if you argue with Ashley your bound to lose.

Ashley sat at the table and told me to sit next to her; I just slowly sat next to her. Silent fell upon the table.

"So Ashley, how do you know Conner?" asked Alexis finally breaking the silence.

How would Ashley explain how she knew me; I mean she defiantly isn't going to tell them that were twins.

My sister sent a angry glare at Alexis.

"Well... We both were new at the school I mean he joined only about a week after me. As we were both relatively new we kinda made friends." Ashley explained, I was surprised that someone as air headed as her could make something like that up all by herself.

Alexis didn't seem too convinced but everyone else did as they nodded in recognition. Alexis then shifted her view to me.

"Don't you have a sister called Ashley?" Alexis questioned. How did she know th- oh, I remember Ashley called me at work yesterday. Did she really figure it out?

"Umm..." I racked my brain for an excuse. "Yes I do have a sister called Ashley... actually that's kinda how I started to talk to Ashley. You see... I was talking on the phone with my sister and then Ashley thought I was talking to her so... we then we started to talk." I nervously explained but it seemed everyone brought it. Ashley flashed me a look as to say;

'Really? That's the best explanation you could come up with? I thought you were supposed to be a geek.'

Well I have to admit that was the worst explanation in the world but everyone brought it so it was fine.

Soon everyone spoke normally and just pretended I wasn't there but I thought that was for the best.

The rest of the day passed quickly and luckily Ashley had cheerleading after school so I didn't have to see her. However, I will have to face Alexis at work and I'm sure she has lots of questions.

When did my life get this complicated?
