Chapter sixteen

^^^^^^^^^^^

Alexis' POV

In the end me and Conner decided to go to the fair after school tomorrow. I couldn't wait; Our first date.

Why couldn't time go faster.

"How was work?" Ralph asked as I joined him in the kitchen, he was eating some scrambled eggs.

"Great, it was just perfect." I sighed dreamily as I poured myself a glass of milk and studied the cupboard for some biscuits.

"Oh, that's good. There's no biscuits if that's what your looking for. We didn't have enough money for extras." My brother pointed out as he put his dishes into the sink.

I sighed. It's because I was in hospital; that's why we didn't have enough money. Our parents basically live on a different planet; the last time I saw them was last year when they needed to make sure I was still alive. They send $12000 each year which is not enough for; all the bills, food,my life insurance(hospital bills)and other essentials , they also send loads of clothes (which is what I wear to school) and pay for school.

Our parents where useless; they didn't actually want us- we were both 'mistakes'.

----------

The next morning school went quickly because all I was thinking about was how much I hated my parents. But after school was my date with Conner- I can't wait.

As I got home I ran straight upstairs to get ready for my date. I put on my army green Henley top, denim mini, thick belt and ankle boots. I liked this outfit because its country farm meets sweet & girly. I put on some light make up and raced down.

He will be picking me up in 15 minutes.

10 minutes later there was a knock on the door, I looked out of the window-Conner. He's early- okay Alexis, stay calm.

"Hey." I greeted as I opened the door.

Conner was in a checkered shirt with ripped jeans and his mess, longish blond hair was covered by a beanie. He look cool and I feel like my heart just melted.

"You look cool." I said with a dreamy sigh and his cheeks blushed up a bit.

"Thanks. You look..." he paused and looked me up and down. Did I look okay? He then smiled as he met my eyes; showing off his cute little dimples. "You look beautiful, perfect even."

I could feel my face blush crimson red. I tore my eyes from his gaze and looked down; why did he have to look so cute. I felt awkward now should I invite him in, should I start walking to his car?

Just then a hand grabbed mine and pulled me, I looked up Conner was walking towards a Jeep.

He opened the passenger side door and smiled as he gestured for me to get in. I watched him as he got into the drivers side.

"Okay, ready to go then?" he asked as he started up the car.

I look around the car which was sparkling clean apart from a lipstick in the side compartment of the door.

Wait- lipstick?

Why was there lipstick in his car?

I picked the lipstick up and looked over to Conner.

"Yeah, I am... but what's this?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him. His face blushed up.

Damn, why was he so cute?

His hair that fell in front of one of his eyes swayed as he looked me in the eye.

"It's not mine." He stated dead serious.

I just burst out laughing; of course it wasn't his, I knew that. I saw his face redden more as I continued to laugh hysterically.

"I know it's not yours, I was asking who the lipstick belonged to. I wasn't accusing you of owning lipstick." I explained in between my giggles. "Anyway, that colour would not suit you at all." I joked leading Conner to laugh to.

We laughed together for a while before setting off to the fair.

-----

Big colours, flashing light, huge crowds.

I could smell the stench of sugar and syrup in the air as we walked aimlessly through the fair.

I haven't been to a fair since I was little.

"Let's go on that!" Conner said excited as he pointed to a hunted mansion, I stared at the huge, purple mansion covered in cob webs- it looked spooky.

"Umm... really?" I asked not really wanting to go in, I didn't really believe in ghosts but I do get scared easily.

"Aww come on! You'll love it!" he grinned, his smile was so cute I couldn't say no. I simply nodded and walked towards the house.

The line wasn't long at all so we only had to wait about 5 minutes, as we were about to enter we heard a blood curdling scream... oh no, what was I about to walk into?

Conner probably noticed that I was already kind of scared because he pulled me closer and held my hand.

"Don't worry, I'm right here with you." he spoke softly into my ear sending shivers down my spine.

---

After walking for what felt like miles we finally got out of the haunted house- I'm pretty sure Conner will go deaf over how much I screamed. I felt so embarrassed.

" Haha, you scare a lot easier than I though, are you okay?" Conner chuckled but seemed genuinely concerned, why I'd he so cute?

" Yeah I'm fine, sorry for screaming a lot" I replied and he just held my hand tighter.

---

We went in lodes of rides and got some ice cream but then we spotted the ferric wheel, we decided to go on that.

As I sat opposite to Conner on the ferric wheel we sat in a comftable silence as we waited for the ride to star.

"Today was fun. We should do it more often." Conner spoke up breaking the silence. Did he just ask me if I wanted to go on another date?

I could feel heat rush to my cheeks and I'm pretty sure I was blushing like crazy.

"Oh, of corse I mean only if you want to? it fine if you don't!" Conner added in a fluster, I think he was worried I would say no because he seemed panicked.

"Haha, no no, I'd love to do this again some time! I had a lot of fun today." I chuckled as the ride began. The Ferris wheel was slower and higher than I thought. Conner and I had an amazing conversation until we arrived at the top and the ferric wheel stopped.

"What happening?!" I half screamed in a panic as I stood up, we were really high up now and my sudden movement made the carriage that we were in Shake. I sat down quickly and Conner leaned forward and rested his hand on my shoulder.

"Calm down Alexis, it's okay- we have just stopped because we've arrived at the top. It will start in a while but for now we should enjoy the view- you can see the fair and further from up here!" Conner reassured me looking straight into my eyes then looking over to the view.

I calmed down now however as soon as I looked at the view I remembered how high up we were and imminently started to panic again.

"Alexis, are you afraid of heights?" Conner asked returning his eyes to mine, I just simply nodded in reply. "Don't worry Alexis, we'll be back down soon but for now just concentrate on me and don't look anywhere else."

I stared into Conner's big, clear chocolate brown eyes- his eyes seemed to pierce straight into my mind.

He was so cute, so sweet,so smart and so much different than the other guys.

At that moment while I was lost in though, Conner leaned forward and kissed me, passionately.
