Chapter two- Part-time Job

Chapter 2

I stared at her in horror. Would I really have to work with her? Is this a nightmare? Wake up right now! I pinched myself a realised that this was really happening.

"Alexis, show this guy the ropes he's the newbie." Informed the guy at the till as he walked out of the shop.

Alexis walked over to me, she wore an over sized cream jumper with some black skinny jeans -I think this was the first time I had ever seen her dress like that, in fact I cad only ever seed her wear pretty (short) dresses.

"Hello, I'm Alexis. Nice to meet you." She smiled as she extended her hand.

I starred at her for a few moments before shaking her hand. "I'm Conner."i replied unenthusiastic.

She just giggled before she said "I know who you are, you go to my school. I'm in your English and Maths class."

I looked at her in utter shock. She knew who I was? I knew she was in my science and maths class but I didn't know she even knew I existed let alone that I was in her class.

"Hello? Conner?" said a sweet voice which pulled me out of my thoughts.

"What?" I asked as I had just missed what she said.

She sighed and said "Okay, I'll explain it one more time. Listen this time."

She told me how to use the cash register and that I needed to sign all the recites. She said that we would take it in turned to man the till and answer the phone.

"Okay, so today I'll answer the phone and you can man the till. Tomorrow we can swap and so on." She decided as she walked over to a comfy looking chair. I walked over to the till and sat in a big,black chair behind the register.

I was glad that we barely had any costumers, But it was very quiet as we had nothing to talk about.

My phone started ringing and broke the silence. I looked at the caller I.D and saw that it was Ashley, my sister. I just let it ring.

" Not going to pick it up?" she asked curiously. I just shook my head not really sure what else to do.

I watched as Alexis walked over, I wondered what she was doing. Then I saw what she was doing, I quickly went to grab my phone but I was to late she had already taken it and just seemed to stare at me.

"Whose Ashley?" she asked raising an eyebrow.

I didn't answer, Ashley would kill me if any one knew I was her brother. We are twines but we barely look alike, she had light, caramel coloured hair were as I had dark brown hair that was almost black, she had bright, clear hazel eyes were as I had green eyes that no one would notice behind my thick, black framed glasses. We looked completely different and our personality's were different but the biggest difference was that she was popular and I was not, I was nothing more than a geek.

"Is she your girlfriend?" Alexis asked pulling me out of my thoughts.

I snorted. "No!" I spat in disgust at what she had just said. "She's my sister!" I shouted.

She now looked sheepish. "Sorry, I didn't know." She looked so shy and cute... wait, what am I saying! Cute? She wasn't cute, she was just a popular, solid brat. Let's just forget that ever happened.

I looked back at Alexis who was just staring at the floor, her face as red as a tomato. I chuckled.

"Don't worry. I won't hold it against you." I joked, as I grinned widely. she just started at me looking shocked.

"I think this is the first time I've seen you smile." she said looking straight at me.

My eyes met hers, I couldn't brake the gaze it seemed to lock me in that position. As our eyes locked, I noticed that her eyes were a very brilliant blue colour they looked like the ocean,I was lost in her eyes. Before I knew what I was doing I was leaning in closer to her. I was about to kiss her.

Ohh, looked like Conner doesn't hate Alexis as much as he thought he did. I will post the next chapter as soon as I can.
