*Ms. Gomez's POV*
I started to teach class when the bell rang. "Ok guys, who's ready to hear about their first project?" I asked and the class groaned. "Oh c'mon it will be so fun!" I exclaimed. I looked at Demi, who smiled and seemed interested. I smiled back. I went to my computer and put on a powerpoint about the project. The first slide came up and I began to explain it. "Ok, so the project is basically creating your own music. You will be playing the guitar, using the drums, playing the piano, violin, or for some of you that might want to sing. You can do whatever your best at. So you have to create a one of a kind, original song, and the whole school will be watching you perform." The class broke out into whispers and I saw nervous faces. "It won't be so bad. And if you don't do it I'll fail you because it is worth 40 percent of your final grade. You will have the whole class period to begin working on your project, so begin right now, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask." I saw a look full of fear on Demi's face but she took out her things and began right away.
*Demi's POV*
Oh no. I'm going to have to perform in front of the whole school? I have stage fright. It will also be really hard to open up my feelings and emotions to everyone. And Ms. Gomez is going to be watching me. So many factors are adding up and making me more scared. Oh well, might as well start. I took out a piece of paper and started to write a song. It wasn't very hard for me to write a song, I always pour my heart into my music.
I feel a seperation coming on
'Cause I know you want to be moving on
I wish it would snow tonight
You'd pull me in, avoid a fight
'Cause I feel a seperation coming on
Just prove, that there's nothing left to try
'Cause the truth, I'd rather we just both deny
You kissed me with those open eyes
It says so much, it's no suprise
To you, but I've got something left inside
Don't surrender, surrender, surrender
Please remember, remember, December
We were so in love back then,
Now you're listening
To what they say
Don't go that way
Remember, remember, December
Please remember,
Don't surrender......
You said you wouldn't let them change your mind
'Cause when we're
Together fire melts the ice
Our hearts are both on overdrive
Come with me, let's run tonight
Don't let these memories get left behind
Don't surrender, surrender, surrender
Please remember, remember, December
We were so in love back then,
Now you're listening
To what they say
Don't go that way
Remember, remember, December
Please remember,
Don't surrender......
I remember us together
With a promise of forever
We can do this, fight the pressure
Please remember, December
Don't surrender, surrender, surrender
Please remember, remember, December
We were so in love back then,
Now you're listening
To what they say
Don't go that way
Remember, remember, December
Please remember,
Don't surrender......When I put down my pencil, I looked up and saw Ms. Gomez staring at me. I blushed and looked away quickly. I had a lot more time, so I started to write a lot more songs. At the end of class, I had about 5 songs written, but I had to decide which one I was going to be singing. The bell rang and I packed away my things. I was about to leave, but then I remembered that I was going to be staying in Ms. Gomez's room during lunch. I paused and turned around. Ms. Gomez smiled. "I saw you writing a lot of songs back there, there wasn't a minute that I saw you stop." She laughed and continued, "It seems like you are used to writing, it seems easy for you. Do you do it often?" I smiled, shyly. "Yeah, I kind of write music to express my feelings. Whenever I'm depressed at home, I usually grab a sheet of paper and start pouring my heart out on it." I said. "That's really nice Demi. Its good to know that you have away of controlling your emotions. You need to be able to push away your sorrows when you feel temptations. Does it usually help you?" "Yes, it usually does. But there are times where its not enough. Temptation takes over me. And this happens." I moved my bracelets and showed her my scars again. I held back my tears and put on a smile. She looked at my wounds and her tears broke out. She lowered her head to my arm and planted a kiss on my cuts. Electricity exploded throughout my whole body but I kept calm.
I smiled and whispered "thank you". She sat up and looked at me. "You're better than this, Demi." "Thank you." "I mean it." "I know." "Do you believe it?" "Sometimes I do" She pulled me into a hug and put her hand on the back of my head. She pulled away and told me, "You will be presenting the project in about three days, so I was going to ask you, will you want to have me play an instrument or do you want to sing acapella?" "Um, I can sing and play." "Really? What kind of instruments do you play?" "Well, I play the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and I play the piano." I said. Her eyes widened. "I don't even play that much. You are very talented. I would ask you to give me a sample now, but I want to be surprised when you present your project." She smiled and looked at the clock. "Demi, you should head to your next class about now so you can avoid the kids in the hallway." I nodded and stood up. "Thank you." I said and began to walk away. As I was leaving, she grabbed my hand. I turned around and looked at her. "Stay strong, ok?" She smiled and let go of my hand. I smiled to myself and walked out of the classroom, thinking about my beautiful music teacher.
