You smile each time, each time you smirk,
Your arm nudges mine, distracted from work.
I raise my eyes to see you there,
Blue orbs trained on mine in a concentrated state.
I fight a smile, yet I fail once more,
You do the same and glance at the floor. These butterflies spread their wings,
Fluttering, flying, beautifully lying,
Yet you don't do anything.
No move, no touch, no kiss.My heart is left to rot inside the cage
It once begged to leave in beautiful rage.
Now, my heart weeps laying on the ground
With no hope of ever being found. You led me to believe you cared,
Then you stopped the talk in less than a year.
I now am soaked in deep depression,
My want for life is rapidly fading.
You pulled me from my deep enclosure,
Then let me fall when she held you.
Your beautiful eyes now haunt my dreams
And your smooth voice will never leave.
But I accept this with open arms,
This fate full of misplaced charm,
Because you became beautiful, to me,
When I got to know you personally. They're attraction doesn't lay deeper,
It lies within your appearance, no sweeter.
Maybe I'll never find one to love,
But I'll always wish I had your one.
Please don't ever forget my face,
I hope you'll remember our steady pace.
It doesn't matter what I wish,
Just that I'll remember your kiss. You'll do well, yes, you'll be fine,
You have a million of dimes.
You have all that, yet you don't have me,
And I know that doesn't really mean
Anything big or bright or beautiful;
I just hope you're happy with her.-L.H.
