Chapter 10

That day Daxton and I spent the whole evening together cuddling and watching our favorite shows. Well, his favorite shows- I had never really watched or cared for TV. I just wanted to be close to him and snuggle the heck out of his warm body. Dax even made me popcorn with extra butter times ten, just how I liked it.

"Tay? Wake up. You need to hop in the shower." I open my right blue eye, not ready to face the world, then grumble and close it. Couldn't he just let me sleep?

He jostled me a bit and the soft fur blanket is suddenly torn from my grasp making me bolt up and growl. How dare he?!

Daxton growled back, louder and meaner, making my wolf bare it's neck in submission with a whine. Stupid Alpha.

"If you had just listened to what I told you the first time I wouldn't have done it, so technically you're the stupid wolf," he snickered. Oh crap, had I said that out loud?

"I'm tired and wanna sleep!" I pouted. "It's like... ten in the freaking morning! I need another solid two hours of sleep!" I grabbed another close blanket and burrowed into it, blocking out the harsh sunlight Daxton just let in by opening the balcony doors.

"Either you get in the shower of your own freewill or I give you the shower myself," he dryly said while leaning down to tie his boot.

"It's not my own freewill if you're making me, now is it?!" I exclaimed from under the blanket.

"Okay, fine. Don't take a shower and come downstairs smelling like morning breath, but I can guarantee Kolby will make fun of you," Daxton shrugged.

"Speaking of Kolby!" I bolted straight up in the bed, remembering some questions I wanted to ask Daxton. "Is he really an Omega? The way Holden talked about Omegas made it sound like it was kinda... rare, I guess?"

Daxton nodded and sat down on the bed beside me. "Well, basically how it goes is that, Omegas don't exist anymore. We may be the first true mates in fifty years but you're the first real Omega in two hundred. Kolby is just the smallest wolf in our pack, so he had to take on that position because he's not really good at being a warrior. Every pack needs an Omega but since they don't exist they just end up being the smallest wolf. Of course, it's an honor to be an Omega and everyone loves Kolby and appreciates everything he does," Daxton finishes, grabbing my hand in his and mindlessly playing with my fingers.

"Then how come I'm a real Omega? Did my parents do something to make me like this? What's so special about it anyway?" I bombarded him with questions.

"I have not one clue why you were chosen to be an Omega. Our moon goddess must have just picked you because she thought you were special. I mean, you are special to me." Daxton snuggled his head into my neck and gave my hand a squeeze.

"That doesn't answer what's so special about being an Omega..." I pointedly looked at him.

He rolled his eyes and stood up from the bed. "There isn't anything really special that I know of. Omegas just have to do with how every pack member is interconnected, Tay.  A packs worth and integrity is based on how their Omega is treated because an Omega is the most sacred wolf to our goddess... or so my parents taught me. I'm pretty sure that's just an old wives tale that every pup is told, but the purpose is so you don't mistreat the wolf that is helping take care of the pack," Daxton pulled me up by my arms a gave a little push so I stumbled to the bathroom, "Now, shower. Everyone is hungry."

That made me get my butt into gear and start my morning routine. I had totally forgotten that everyone waits until we eat first! I really needed to find a way to break them of that habit.
