Chapter 4
He was massive. I couldn't believe how big Daxton's wolf was! I definitely wasn't that big, so what the heck happened? Was it because my human form was small, too? Daxton was at least six feet two, maybe three, inches and his wolf was probably double mine in size. And, to make things worse, my wolf was panting over Daxton like some thirsty high school girl trying to get some from the entire football team!
We would never go after a football team. Only Daxton and Evander. Always Daxton and Evander, my wolf sighed like a love sick puppy.
Daxton and Evander? Who the heck is Evander? I asked as I finally made my way into my new home. I flipped light switches on as I navigated my way to a box labeled Bathroom.
Well Daxton's wolf, of course! Did you not see him? Really big? Emerald eyes? Ring a bell? my suddenly sarcastic wolf answered. I rolled my eyes then opened the box in front of me and got out all the things necessary to take a shower.
His wolf has a name? I inquired as I stepped into my bathroom and turned the shower on.
Well, yeah! We're not barbaric animals in case you couldn't tell. We're highly developed wolves that have emotions and families and names. Granted it's you, our human side, who gives us those traits, but we're both the same yet separate beings that converge into one species called shifters, she explained as I hopped into the warm water to help me wash away some of the crazy that happened earlier.
So... you have a name? I kind of felt stupid that I never thought to ask. We had been living in the same body and it never occurred to me that my wolf side might have a name. I always just thought that she was kind of... there. Like another extension of me, not her own person (wolf?).
My name is Bryar, thanks for finally asking, she said and I started laughing hysterically.
You know that's the name of thorny bushes, right? I managed to get out through my fit of giggles.
She growled at me but I ignored her as I washed the shampoo out of my blonde hair. Why don't we just call you Bry, yeah?
She huffed at me but agreed to let me call her Bry. I just didn't think I could call her Bryar with a straight face.
I finished up my shower and wrapped a towel around my torso, running my fingers through my wet locks instead of rooting around in the box again to find a brush. Making my way to the living room where my clothes were sitting in yet another box, I shuffled things around until I found a pair of clean black undies, some gray sweatpants, and a tank top. I dropped the towel and quickly put everything on then went to the living room window and shut the curtains. I knew there was nobody out there, but that didn't mean it wouldn't feel creepy to have it open while I was trying to sleep.
Turning off the rest of the lights in the house except for the room I was in, I quickly made my bed (or floor, in this case), and got comfortable. I was out in seconds with only thoughts of a familiar chiseled jaw and perfect lips.

The sound of knocking startled me awake the next morning. With what I'm sure was a look of pure disorientation and confusion, I untangled myself from the blankets (which was much more difficult than I expected) and sprinted to the door then threw it open without a thought.
The sight of Daxton standing in front of me made me freeze. I had totally forgotten he was supposed to come over and explain things! I was about to talk when I realized the worst thing that could probably ever happen to someone when a hot Adonis man showed up at their door. I have morning breath, the thought resounded throughout my head.
