Little trigger warning, nothing major, it just gets brought up

Its confirmed, I have cancer, the same cancer that killed my mom. I'm at the point were my mom was at, there is no way to slow it down or stop it. I'm to far along. Of course I'm on meds, but they aren't doing anything. I've been in the hospital for the past couple of days. The doctors think that I have less then a month. Vic has stopped by every day since I've been in here. He says you can see how sick I look. He said i have bags under my eyes and my skin is pale. I was laying in the hospital bed when I heard the door open and I saw Vic and Alice walk in.

"Hey sweetheart!" I said as enthused as I could be to my daughter.

She had a big smile and she crawled into the bed into my arms. I looked over at Vic and he seemed sad.

"What's wrong vic?" I asked him.

He stayed quiet. It scared me.

"Vic baby, what's wrong? Come here." I said quietly.

He carefully stepped closer to the bed and sat down on the edge. You could tell that he wanted to cry. Alice noticed because she went over to him and huged his side.

"I just don't know what I'm going to do with out you." His voice cracked as a tear fell down his cheek.

I let out a sigh and I pulled him close to me, Alice crawling into our laps seconds later.

"You'll see me again, even when I leave, I'll always be here. I promise. I love you both so very much. Don't let me bring you down when I'm gone. You're strong. I know you are. I promise you'll see me again." I said quietly while Vic started full blown crying.

I had to be strong, for both of them. Even if I'm scared shitless. I need to know that they both will be okay when I'm gone.

"Vic I need you to promise me a couple of things." I took my index finger and I made him look at me.

He looked at me silently saying that he was listening.

"I need you to promise me that you won't give up. I need you to promise me that when I'm gone, you never bring a blade to your body again, or self harm in general, don't do it. And one more thing, I need you to promise me that you will take good care of our daughter. Keep her healthy, keep her safe. Can you promise me these things?" I asked him.

"Yea." He simply said looking down.

"No, say I promise. I need to know that you'll be okay when I'm gone." I said picking his head back up.

"Yea, I promise, I promise for everything." He said with a quivering lip.

"Okay, good. I love you so fucking much. Don't ever forget that." I said truthfully.

He leaned in and we shared a sweet kiss, even if his lips were quivering.

"Ewie stahp dat!" Alice yelled at us. "Das gwoss." He said making a weird face.

We pulled away and I laughed a little.

"I love you all so much." I said holding my family close.

For the rest of the day, I talked with my family, but by the end of the day, they had to leave like always. And that was the last people that I had ever talked to.
