I had a lot of questions in my mind, some about whether her kindness was genuine and others if she could be trusted. As she brought us tea, she sat down and told us her name. Besides, the tea was enough to satisfy me.
"And you?"
"Huh?" It took me up to ten seconds to realize she was asking for my name, ''Oh, Alessandra.''
She nodded in response and glanced at Layla.
"She's the friend I talked about earlier. Her name is Layla."
''I see,'' in which she then proceeded to look us up and down. "You both look tired. Would you both like a room of your own? I have plenty to spare."
It was exactly like a mansion but honestly, there was no way I did not feel suspicious about this place. It seemed like only a few people lived here, apart from the servants. I had a strong urge to check on my horse to see if he was alright.
"Sure, if it doesn't bother you. By the way, where are the stables?"
"Right out the back door."
"Thank you. If you'll allow me to excuse myself, I'll head to my destination."
It wasn't hard getting around the house. As soon as I arrived at the stables, I searched for my horse. There weren't many horses here. In fact, there were only three.
"Are they treating you well?"
Neigh! He had a worried expression. "What's wrong?" I asked in concern and looked at the servants who were already ready to groom him. "Is it alright if I have a minute with him?"
As they kept their distances, I ran my fingers through his soft mane and tried my best to soothe him. ''Hey, we won't be here too long. I'll find a better place for you elsewhere. But in the meantime, this is our best option. I know you'll be fine,'' I smiled as he rubbed his muzzle against my cheek.
I hoped we were in the right place but there was a feeling that kept bugging me. I walked back into the house and went to my room. The minute I opened the door, I was shocked. The room was almost completely empty. There was no bed, nothing at all. Was I in the right place?
I wanted to talk to Edna about this. However as soon as I turned around, two fierce-looking men grabbed my arms and held them behind my back, wrapping chains around them so tightly they threatened to pierce through my skin.
"Let me go!" I struggled against the iron chains. I was right this whole time!
"Hey! Keep your pretty mouth shut or we'll kill you!" I kept screaming for help, although I should have known that the effort was in vain. The next thing I knew, they had gagged me with a cloth and as cliche as it sounded, I passed out.
