Dan's POV
I have been living in my new apartment for a couple of weeks now and I really liked it here. All of my neighbors were really quiet and just kept everything to themselves. It was a bit weird but I enjoyed it better than to be surrounded by rowdy people.
I actually got a job as well. There was a café hiring a cashier down town so I applied and was hired immediately. I was thinking on why they hired me so quickly but I realized that no one wants to be greeted every morning with a rude costumer.
Today was Monday which meant I had to work. I work Monday's through Friday's. I quickly got ready and made my way to the shop.
"Good morning, sweety." Said the boss. Her name's Beth. She was around around 55 years old and opened this store around 30 years ago and has always been a success.
"Good morning, Beth." I smiled at her and went around the counter to put my apron on. Beth and her husband Richard worked in the back baking. I worked up front with another guy but he was really weird. He didn't talk to anyone besides the costumers. I didn't even try to get his trust and talk to him so we just ignored each other all day. It's kind of awkward not talking to someone you see everyday and is around you most of the time.
Phil's POV
I usually wake up around the same time every day and make my way to the warehouse but since I have a week off I decided I would go out today.
I know, I should be staying indoors and relaxing but I just feel suffocated in my home. Home. This place doesn't feel like home. It just feels like a place where I come in just to go to bed. I hardly spend any time in this house. It feels really weird to be alone. Usually I'm surrounded by other coworkers in the warehouse counting money and packing drugs. Or sometimes I'm surrounded by a small group in the woods while we decapitate those who refused to pay us back.
I got out of bed and took a quick shower and got dressed. I dressed into a plain black t shirt which I must say, suited me well. I paired it with black skinny jeans and some black and white converse. I sprayed on some cologne and headed out the door. I wanted to walk for once.
I went down town to my favorite coffee shop. The two owners were very nice people except for the worker up front. He was rude at times and only talked when talked to. But hey, who am I to judge?
When I walked in I was greeted by a scent of coffee and sugary treats. I went over to the counter and saw no one in sight so I rang the bell.
"Coming!" I heard a soft voice from what I assumed was the employee room.
Dan's POV
"Hello, how can I help you?" I walked out of the break room and saw a tall handsome guy. He had dark black hair and was littered with tattoos. He was dressed in all black which I thought complimented his pale skin.
"Hi, can I get a chocolate muffin and a large coffee. Milk and two sugars please."
I typed his order in. "That'll be $7.56 please." He handed me the money and let me keep the change. The other worker was on his break so I went to make his coffee and grab the muffin.
"Here you go."
"Thank you."
I didn't want him to leave. Something about him made me want to reach out to him and be his friend.
"Uh, wait!" I called out to him before he left. He walked back towards me.
"Yeah?" He looked at me and raised an eyebrow.
"Um.." I was so nervous. "C-can I have your number?" I blushed madly and put my head down. I didn't think I would turn this red. I heard him chuckle and I looked up to meet his eyes.
"Don't you think you're a bit too young?" He let out a smile laugh.
"No!" I said in protest. "I'm 19."
"I'm 24. A bit old maybe?"
"I don't think so." I said shyly.
Phil's POV
This kid was trying so hard to get my number. I didn't think it was a good idea to bring a young kid into my complicated life. He just wanted to make friends. I soon gave in.
"Okay. Fine. Whatever. Give me your phone." I saw his eyes light up and he reached into his apron and pulled out his phone. I quickly typed my number in and headed out.
"I'm Dan by the way!"
"Check your phone." I called out.
