Annie's Point Of View
"I'm so confused... why did you bring me here? What's going on?" I asked, breathing heavily.
"Shhhh, just take a deep breath. Just let me explain. You're gonna be fine, Annie." Brendon cooed, talking in a soothing voice.
"H- how do you know my name? What's going on?! Please tell me what's happening!" I pleaded as tears slid down my face uncontrollably.
"Hey, hey, don't cry. Don't freak out, relax. Your here for a reason. I'm here to protect you, just let me explain everything." Brendon whispered as he passed a water bottle to me. I nodded, and took a sip of water. I looked him in the eyes as I waited for him to explain the situation. "I'm pretty sure you've already figured it out by now, but you're in danger. You're gonna be totally fine, but I was hired to watch and protect you." He explained with a calm and collected tone. "I'm in the CIA with Maddy, I'm sure you've already met her." He said. I nodded in response, and he continued talking, explaining everything.
"Brad isn't just after Pete, Patrick, Andy and Joe... He's after you and me, too."
"See! That's what I don't understand! What do I have to do with any of this?! Why am I stuck in the middle?! This shit isn't fair!" I screamed, beginning to cry more, and more as Brendon tried to get me to stop crying.
"Listen... The only reason he's after us is because we're acquainted with Maddy in some way or another. Brad basically thinks that he can get revenge on her, by getting ahold of us and the guys, to make her worry so she'll come to our rescue. Once that happens, he'll set us free and get his revenge on Maddy himself." Brendon explained. I sighed, and ran my fingers through my hair.
"So what are we supposed to do now?" I asked, wiping a tear from my face.
"We just need to lay low, and make sure we're hidden, we'll need some food and water and a few-"
"No!" I said, completely cutting Brendon off from his sentence.
"What?"
"No! We're NOT just gonna sit here and "lay low" until this all blows over, especially knowing that the guys and Maddy are in danger. I'm not just gonna sit here in silence, hiding away in this van with you, while they risk their lives for us! They could be hurt, or worse, they could even be killed!" I yelled, leaving a long silence to linger in the van. I eventually put my hand on the door of the van, preparing to slide the door open as Brendon grabbed onto my wrist, forcefully taking my hand from the handle of the door. He looked me in the eyes with a stern look and broke the silence.
"Listen Annie, I was hired to take care of you and protect you in all of this! I'm not about to go against that rule! I know your just trying to get through this by trying to act as though you're this tough and brave person, but I've been in your shoes before! Right now, I know that deep down, all of that behavior is just the fear you're feeling on the inside. So... what would you rather do? Act like you're brave, and go out there only to risk your life? Or stay here where you're safe?" Brendon asked, finally releasing my wrist from his grasp. At this point, I was just quiet, looking into Brendon's eyes thinking about what he had just said. "It's up to you. Do what you want.... But I'll never forgive myself if something happened to you. Knowing that it's in my hands to keep you safe is the hardest thing in the world, and I would never look myself in the mirror again if someone hurt you. Patrick loves you that much, and I would be so mad at myself to let my best friend down like that." He stopped talking, and I smiled.
"That's the sweetest thing I've ever heard." I said. I looked down at the floor of the van with a shy smile. I began to blush at the thought of Patrick being so protective of me. I never knew he felt that way about me. He was always so shy when we were together, which I thought was the cutest thing about him, but it seemed to me that he was always so hesitant to tell me that he liked me.
"Now do you understand why I don't want to risk anything happening to you, Annie? Patrick would beat the hell out of me if something happened to you. He's the one who put me in charge of you, and if he finds out that you got hurt on my watch, you'll probably never hear from me again." Brendon laughed with a smile across his face. I smiled back at him, and nodded in response without saying anything else. I looked out the window of the van sighing deeply, slumping into my seat.
"How do I manage to get myself into these kinds of situations?" I mumbled looking away from the window, bringing my attention back over to Brendon. He had a look of sympathy on his face, and he was shaking his head.
"I don't know... but trust me, I'll get us out of this mess."
