A/N: Inside the Beauprès' Mansion

He stood and walked in front of her, completely covering her with his shadow. He raised his hand and touched her hair ever so softly, tucking it into her ear as he leaned for a whisper.
"Have you ever thought," he started, the sweet scent of apples laced with the warmth of his breath. "That I'm only acting and my true intention was to kill you?"
She pushed him away and moved backward until her back hit the wall. Fear raked inside her at the sight of his sneer, as if her heart would run away in fear. She strained her mind for a plan, but there was nothing. She hadn't been in a situation like this, being caught off guard two days in a row wasn't the best feeling.
With fading hope, she scanned all the possible exit, only to realize that they were in the middle of her room. Any direction she takes, he would surely capture her. Out of panic, she grabbed her lava lamp and brandished her weapon with shaking hands.
"S-so you were lying?" Zoe squeaked, yet she tried to look brave.
"You have no idea how easy it was to kill you and leave like nothing happen." He hid his hands into his pocket and took a step. "If I brought you to Mamoria, I bet you won't even last for a day."
"I'm asking you, were you lying?"
"What if I said yes? What will you do? Attack me with your little toy?"
He took another step, his dark eyes glinting with a hunger for blood.
Zoe opened her mouth to scream, but closed it when Darcy started laughing. She stared at him with wide eyes and hanging jaw. In a span of a moment, the face of the predator had vanished.
"I'm only teasing you." he explained.
She breathed a sigh and lowered her weapon. Zoe glared at him with such flare as if she was burning him to dust, "Well, it isn't funny!"
"Nevertheless, everything I told you was true." He spun and examined the Anime action figures on the shelf, "I'm not here to kill you. That, I can guarantee. I only want you to know that in my world, you must trust yourself and nobody else." He paused and picked up the figure of Naruto. "And that includes me."
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said."
"O-okay...?" she muttered. "Maybe... maybe I should prepare for the party. This is just too much for one day."
With the lava lamp at hand, she proceeded to her walk-in closet and slammed the door behind her. She leaned on the hardwood, feeling her head whirled in a never ending loop. She wanted to ask him a lot of things, but she doubted her brain would survive from another impact. Just a few moments ago, she wanted to squeal and tell the whole world that she was the lost heroine. But now, she wasn't sure.
All through her boring life, she was contained within the walls of this mission. Only leaving during their family trips or when her bodyguards were with her. It was so plain, so sad, and suffocating.
"If I'm the heroine, does that mean I could finally leave this place?" she mumbled then her eyes lit with life. She spun and cleared her throat.
"Uhm... Darcy?"
No response.
"Darcy?"
Still no answer.
The red haired girl slowly opened the door, adjusting her grip on the lava lamp. She peeked into her room, only to find no sign of her new bodyguard. She stepped out and caught the action figure of Naruto on the floor.
