______________________________He could hardly breath, he'd been running for so long.
His body was wet from sweating.
His legs felt like they would collapse if he took one more step.
But he couldn't stop.
No, he couldn't let it get him.
Tree's whizzed by him as he ran through the forest. Leaves and branches crackling under his feet.
Up ahead it looked to Seth as though there was an opening, a small one. A road maybe?
Seth saw something move infront of him. Was someone walking on the road or had the Nightmere somehow gotten infront of him?
He didn't know but he wasn't going to stop. If the nightmere was behind him and he stopped he would be just as dead as if he kept going.
No, he would keep going.
He stepped onto the road and despite what he had told himself, stopped.
It was Kyle.
He stared at Seth a look of misunderstanding in his eyes. Seth, who was breathless and red faced from running for what had seemed like forever, returned the look.
"Seth what's the matter?" Kyle asked.
"I-it's coming!" Seth exclaimed.
"What is?" Kyle asked confused.
"IT'S coming!" This time Seth put more force into his words, turning him around, and pushing him forward, toward the woods on the other side of the road.
"Seth! What are you talking about? What's going on?" Kyle stopped and turned around to face his drother again.
"The Nightmere!" Seth yelled impatiently trying to find any recognition in Kyle's eyes. There was none though, only confusion. But then they softened and his mouth spread into a pleasant smile.
"Oh Seth," he said calmly a shadow crossing his face. He's not coming...I'm already here." Kyle's eyes changed from a glassy blue to a blood red with no center. He glared at Seth, hatred covering every inch of his face. Seth took a step back, his mind reeling. There were to many things going on at once that he couldn't even begin to think. He wass stunned, all he could manage was, "what."
Kyle smiled, his pointed teeth showing as he did. Then he ran at Seth.
Seth jumped awake coughing and gasping for air. Sweat drenched his clothes and face. His blankets no longer on him and he wondered if he was shivered because he was cold or shaken by how real his nightmare had been.
Just lying there he could feel his chest tightening from the anticipation. So he got out of bed.to walk it off.
He went down the stairs and into the kitchen. He turned on the light over the dinner table. Then he stood there waiting for something, anything, to happen.
But all was silent. So he plopped down on one of the chairs around the table. He stared ahead at his dim reflection in the window.
His hair was wet, drenched from sweat and his eyes were all puffy and had purple rings under them from lack of sleep. He had been having nightmare after nightmare ever since he had returned home from the hospital. They were starting to become a natural accuracy, as was jumping awake in a cold sweat and barly being able to breath.
He hated them though, and wished nothing but for them to stop. But he figured they wouldn't, at least not for a while or maybe not ever. But he hoped that wasn't the case.
His thoughts were suddenly broken by a soft shuffling coming from behind him. His breathing stilled and his hart pase quickened.
He focused on a reflection that was not his own. Kyle was standing a few feet behind Seth's chair. He just stood there staring at Seth's reflection. Seth stared right back at him not willing to move a muscle.
Kyle's face relaxed. And the smile that formed on it was truely vile, his teeth jagged and sharp. It was filled with everything polluted, corrupt, and unnatural that could show through smiling lips and twinkling red eyes. Then Kyle said, "Was i haunting your dreams again?"
