My Starter Pokémon

?: Stooooooop!

I look back and saw a little girl running towards me.

Little girl: You shouldn't go there unless you have a Pokémon with you.

Me: Then where should I get a Pokémon? I'm in a big hurry.

Little girl: You can talk to Professor Birch in his Lab.

Me: Thanks!

I ran to the lab, I stood in front of the lab for a while, for a moment, I though that maybe he would call my mom and tell her that I came here to get a Pokémon. The door suddenly opens and see Professor Birch about to go outside.

Birch: What a surprise to see you Artemis! Come inside.

I follow him inside and leads me to his work area.

Birch: What brings you here Artemis? It's been so long, the last time I saw you outside your home was...

Me: I know... Since he left on his journey.

Birch: Did he communicated with you all these years?

Me: All I know is that he never called me once since he left.

Birch: I'm sure he's fine. Once you become a trainer, you will forget about anything else hahaha!

I look at him for a moment. I just knew I had that intense and shamed look on my face as he stare at me.

Birch: Don't tell me you came here so you can become a trainer.

Me: Yes please, I'm in a hurry.

Birch: You will be in so much trouble with your mother.

Me: Technically, I'm a young adult. I have the right to decide what to do with my life.

Birch: You're right. Well then, I only have this starter.

Me: Which Pokémon is it?

Birch: It's Torchic. I think it will be a great partner for you.

Me: Yeah sure, thanks professor!

Birch: Before you leave take this Pokédex and these 5 Pokéballs.

Me: Whoa! Thanks.

I walk to the door, kinda hard to carry these balls without a bag. When I step outside, I saw my mother outside waiting for me.

Me: And I'm busted...

Mom: I see you got everything you need.

Me: Yeah, I won't let you stop me.

Mom: It's ok, here!

She gave me a backpack and put all my stuff in it. I was still surprised by her sudden attitude on this. She finish putting everything in the bag and then look at me in the eyes.

Mom: Promise me that you'll never forget me and return home.

Me: Yeah, I promise. Don't worry, I'll visit too.

Mom: OK, take care!

I start to run to Route 101, I'm still surprised about my mom's attitude but I'm happy about it. On Route 101 , I had to walk on tall grass to get to the next town. I battled a few Pokémon on my way and catch a Zigzagoon. I felt that my Pokémon are growing alot in just hours. I reach Ordale Town, a small town I could say. A lady showed me and explained me the services about the Pokémon Center and the PokéMart. Last, but not least, she gave me a Potion.

I healed my Pokémon in the Pokémon Center and bought 4 potions in the PokéMart. I read a sign that said the next location is Petalburg City. I need to get there so I can rest for the night. It's already 5pm and I'm getting tired. I went to Route 102, battled four trainers on my way and reached Petalburg City.

To be called a city, it seem to small. I saw it's gym, but it seems to be close. I really wanted to challenge it and receive my first badge, but good things come when you wait, right? I went to a small cottage that rents rooms for trainers. The lady said that the price is 700 PokéCoins for just one night staying here. The price annoyed me alot, but I got no where to go. Plus, I really need to get some camping stuff for future emergencies.

I paid and went to the third room. I slept there until the morning. Before I left there, I wash my clothes, in a poor way, on the bathroom's sink. At least it was something, so I can keep my clothing as clean as possible. I let them dry on the window, which it only took an hour. I put my clothes on and put my pajamas on the bag. I walk outside and notice that the gym is open. When I was about to enter, a familiar voice stop me.
