"How much can one bend before they break? We all take risks that can harm or benefit us. But is it really worth the leap of faith?"

Kylie

Anna wanted a piggy back ride the whole way, so I did drop her off at her elementary school earlier in the day. I managed to arrive to my classes on time. I haven't gone through half of the day yet, and my backpack already feels heavy. Now here I am, in the cafeteria waiting in line. When I arrived to the counter, the kind lady asked me what I wanted.

Today I decided to stick with chicken tenders and fries. I grabbed a milk carton and set it on my tray. I entered my lunch pin on the keypad and pressed enter. The lady smiled, showing that it did go through. Then I got out off the line and went to find my friends.

"Kylie! Over here!" Ace waved his hand up in the air. He was grinning widely. There was something in his eyes that I couldn't read. But I could tell he was really happy with his new girlfriend, Lynn. She's one of the new people in our friend group.

Lynn was pretty girl. She was a brunette with shoulder length hair. Her cobalt eyes would make any guy swoon. And Ace knew he was going to have a difficult time keeping the other desperate guys away from her. The blonde headed boy found it distasteful whenever he found other guys checking Lynn out in front of him.

She was outgoing and a great person to talk with. I smiled at Ace and couldn't help to laugh when he gave her a puppy look. Lynn gave him a small peck on the lips. Ace wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled his face into her right shoulder. The both of them were definitely head over heels in love; they were perfect for each other.

I took my seat next to him and set my tray down on the table. My best friend Ashley took out her earbuds and stuffed them back in her pockets. The red head had such a bubbly personality. Ashley could be annoying at times, but I can say that whenever she wasn't around, I would miss her. I was always used to her excited outbursts and tight hugs.

Ashley also has a close relationship with one of my other friends. But they weren't here today because they were down with a cold, Ashley had told me. Luke was almost like a brother to Ashley. He was the quiet type of guy, but he would only talk normally when he was around us as a friend group. Luke is definitely a good student; he has never gotten into trouble with anyone before.

"Are you guys ready for the project?" Lynn piped up from across the table. She couldn't help but to laugh when Ace started to swarm her face with kisses.

"Aww, look at you two. You guys are such a cute couple!" Ashley gushed and propped her arms up on the table. I smiled when Lynn blushed and took a couple bites of my chicken tenders.

She got off of his lap and decided to take the empty seat next to him. Lynn pinched Ace's cheek encouraging him to eat his food. He rolled his eyes, lacing his fingers with hers underneath the table. "Actually to answer your question from earlier, Lynn, I am sure as hell not ready for the project. I haven't purchased our equipment yet."

I dropped my fry in the ketchup and groaned. "Ashley, our group project is due in two weeks! We have to get it done as soon as possible!"

"Two weeks is fourteen days, Kylie. I bet you that filming our movie will only take three days," Ashley retorted.

"Yeah, but we still have to write up the script, set up our equipment, and make a lot of edits after we film. We may not even be able to memorize our lines and get the scenes right on the first try." Ace backed me up and I gave Ashley an unamused look. She sighed and rubbed a hand over her face.

"Not only that, we can't risk procrastinating. This project is worth more than fifty percent of our grade. It's one of the essentials," Lynn added.

"I guess your right. How about we head out to Walmart tonight and get the supplies we need?" My best friend smiled sheepishly at me. I rolled my eyes and nudged her arm.

"Of course, I mean why not. I don't have plans tonight anyway," I turn my attention back to the couple sitting across from us,"Do you guys want to pitch in too?"

Lynn and Ace glanced at each other for a moment. Lynn frowned and leaned against Ace. "I have to go see my grandmother at the airport tonight. And take her out to dinner with my family," Lynn scratched the back of her neck.

"And I have to spend the night at a friend's house because I have to watch over their siblings. Dude, Nick is such an ass. He wants me to take care of his sisters while he is out on his date," Ace scowled. I fought back a smile. I pictured Nick's sisters sitting around Ace in a circle, playing with his hair.

"Ace, you could make Nick do the same for you later when you decide to go out on another date with Lynn. It evens out perfectly," I kindly suggested.

"So I guess it'll just be Kylie and I then." The red head shot me a small smile.

"Lynn will be in charge of making the script and Ace can make edits after we're done filming. He's good with the tech stuff. I'll manage the group and direct the scenes. And we can all take turns to hold or position the camera." They all nodded with me in agreement.

After that, we chatted about our plans for the next two weeks. The bell rang and we all decided to dump our trays. I packed up my things back into my school bag. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, notifying me that I received a new message. I reached in and took it out.

I entered my passcode and opened my inbox. It was a simple hello message from an unknown number. I shrugged my shoulders and deleted it. Things like that would only happen every few months or so; it was a normal thing here. I yawned and went to my next class.
