"The whirlwind of voices inside the human mind can convince any man that he is insane."
Kylie
I continued to twist and turn, contorted of the nightmares in the night. I was not able to get any sleep at all. The brutal sunlight washed through the opened blinds, hitting me in the eyes. I hissed and shot up out of bed. I slammed my fist down on the snooze button as soon as my alarm went off.
I did all of my usual morning necessities before changing into a white lace blouse. I slipped my long legs into a pair of black leggings. Keeping my hair the way it was, I shoved my feet into a pair of Converse shoes before hitching my backpack over my shoulder. I packed Anna the usual ham and cheese sandwich with no crust. I made her some fruit salad and scooped five spoonfuls of it, plopped it into a container, and closed off the lid.
I slid a few napkins into the side pouch of her lunch bag, and put two fudge brownies in a Ziplock bag for her. I left everything on the kitchen counter for Anna. I dashed out the front door and sprinted past Luke's house. I could feel chills crawling down my back as I made a left on the sidewalk. My lungs and throat were burning as blood pumped through me as I decided to increase my running pace.
Suddenly there was a honk that emitted from a familiar white Kia Optima from behind me. I let out a small squeak of surprise and tensed up. I stopped in my tracks as Ace rolled down his car window. "What are you doing running to school? Come on and get in!"
I shot him an unamused expression and took my seat in the back of his car. Lynn had already been sitting in the front next to the blonde boy. She had her legs propped up on his dashboard. On the way to school, her hazel hair flew freely behind her, as the air rushed through the car window. My mind drifted off back to the letters I had read from Luke's art studio box.
A deep male voice sprung into the very back of my mind, reciting the messages in the same order as they had been read by me. The fact that his tone of voice was clearly unknown to me, I shivered as goosebumps creeped up my arms. "While those eyes intimidated the world, to some, they represented numeral mysteries, a gallon of untold stories, and a bright flicker, waiting to ignite into a full fledged flame. Do you truly wish to save her?" I sunk my nails into my palm and clenched my jaw as my head started to unexpectedly throb.
I was very confused and disorientated at this point. "Kill the part of you that believes it cannot survive without someone else by your side for eternity, if not, maybe I might as well do that for you." I slumped lower into the seat of the car and leaned my head against the door. I shut my eyes tightly and grit my teeth. Ace glanced back at me through the review mirror with a worried expression.
"Hey Kylie, are you okay?" Lynn piped up from the passenger seat, exchanging a knowing look with Ace. I swallowed the dry lump in my throat and breathed out heavily. I could feel my heart thumping in my ears, my chest feeling as if it was on fire. My head was soon filled with many voices, and they sounded cold and distant, almost like death.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me." I replied back while trying to refrain from sounding like I was being strangled. Pain shot through my skull and I clamped my mouth shut by harshly biting down on my bottom lip, causing it to bleed. A metallic smell hit my nostrils and I held back my tears.
"She is mine. Kylie Williams is mine, and don't ever lay a hand on her. I will sever off your hands and feet. I will make you scream in agony, and I will make you regret ever stepping a foot on this damned earth. I will rid of your family. I will rid of you, and all of your friends one by one."
I let out a choked sob and started to roughly tug at the roots of my hair. Ace took a sharp right and zoomed past the intersection without taking a second to stop for the other cars. He swiftly pulled into the school's back parking lot and stomped on the breaks once he smoothly slid into a suitable parking spot. He and Lynn unbuckled their seat belts and immediately hopped out to come by my side. I felt hands trying to pull me out from the gap between the passenger and the backseat, trying to drown me in their cruel intentions.
"No!" I let out a shrill cry and slapped the hands away. I made a move to recoil back further against the back of the passenger seat, but to no avail. "I'm coming after you, Mr. Crawford." I whimpered helplessly as I held my head in my hands, rocking back and forth. "It's all of my fault!" I hiccuped and tears continued to flow from the corners of my eyes, sliding down my cheeks.
"If I hadn't been such an easy target none of this would have happened! Luke would still be here, and he wouldn't have just went and disappeared like that! My stalker wouldn't have taken him hostage!" I screamed and I finally opened my eyes as the voices inside of my head started to slowly fade away. I blinked in confusion as black spots danced in my line of vision.
My breathing was ragged and sweat was stuck to my forehead. My hazel brown eyes flickered between both Lynn and Ace. They did not seem fazed by my sudden mental breakdown. They were working together to help me as if they had done this plenty of times before. I did not bother to ask them why they seemed very calm about the situation because I knew that things would end up becoming too awkward to handle.
"Kylie, take deep breaths. You need to calm down." Lynn planted her hands on my shoulders and hauled me out of the small gap between the seats. Ace had me lay on my back and he placed a cloth over my forehead. I shivered as I felt the chillness of the soft fabric brush against my skin as I tried to make myself comfortable.
I fought hard against my lungs, forcing myself to cough several times in order to get my breathing back to normal. My heartbeat eventually came to a steady rate, and I relaxed almost instantly when Ace removed the now lukewarm cloth from my head. I sat back up and rubbed a hand over my face before smiling sheepishly at the couple beside me. "Thank you.. I really appreciate it," I whispered sullenly.
"That's okay. You had a mental breakdown. It happens when you have an intense amount of stress and anxiety." Ace stated in an informative tone before exiting the car. Who knew that the blonde boy in front of me was able to study hard and be passing his medical field class. Lynn helped me out of the car and I grabbed my backpack.
I matted down my disheveled hair and took a deep breath, slamming the car door shut. I headed towards the school entrance doors and met Tristan along the way. Lynn and Ace left me alone with him, so that he and I could chat on the way to class. Tristan snaked his arm around my waist and smiled down at me as I spoke with him about our plans for the weekend. The fact that I was his very first long time girlfriend earned me a lot of burning glares from the other girls in the hallways.

Anyone really liking the new book cover? I hope so because I made mine on Pic Collage, and I use a Samsung Galaxy S2 as a phone, so the screen is fairly small for me to manage on. I tried to make the text look as aligned as possible, and not crooked. Have a wonderful week, all of you. See you readers and fans in the next update!
P.S: Please check out my latest story The Kidnapping of Riley Hawthorne. The very chapter will be published on September 13th, so as of now the only part that there is for you to read, vote, comment, and fan on is the book description. Have a great weekend everybody!
