I ran around the school with my friends, camera in hand, filming the year 12's on their last day. It was full of energy, the laughing, everyone happy that we all took 6 years of being in the same classes to finally get along. Teachers were milling around, joking with a few of the students, making fun of their outfits, and their ridiculous attitude. I filmed everyone having their own time, laughing along to jokes made by each other and me, doing mini interviews with each other.
-------- Skip the rest of the day------
I was sitting at my computer, with the camera connected, watching all of the videos and laughing. I am going to miss this, joking around with the most random people, ever. I felt a tear run down my cheek and I never thought that I would cry over leaving school. We still have exams, sure, but I don't think it will ever be like in those videos. Awkward, mature teenagers at their best, dressed like year 7's and just being themselves. I picked up my drink of Arizona, sipping it as I looked intently at the screen, watching the people have fun. At one point someone stole the camera, and was chasing me around trying to be me. I laughed to the point of almost choking on the drink. I put it down and paused the video, looking at what I should have done next.
Reminiscing took a lot out of me and so I relaxed on my phone, watching Our2ndLife videos and other people's videos. I looked over to the open and unfinished video on the big mac desktop. I slid out of bed and tumbled over to the deskchair and fell in it. I put my headphones on and started playing around with the music to be quiet in the background, while making sure you could hear everything that was said.
--------- About an hour later--------
I know that sounds like a short time to edit a YouTube video, but it wasn't exactly just for YouTube, it was also for my application to New York University. I know that sounds like a push, especially for an Australian like me, but I am hoping that's what will get me into a school like that...
I burnt the disc after looking at the final product over a few times, making sure it was just perfect. I quickly wrote up my application form, before putting them all into the small orange envelope, making sure I had written the address right, and had the stamp on it. My breath quickened and my heart skipped a beat as I looked down at my dreams sitting in my hands. I shook it all off and walked downstairs, looking for my mother.
"MUUM?! Where are you?!" I shouted out walking down the long hallway.
"IN HERE SWEETIE!" I ran into the lounge room, seeing her seated in her own seat. "Hi mum, I have the application form, when should we post it?"
Mum looked up at me with a sad look in her eyes. "It will have to wait a while sweetie, sorry, your school fees just came through and they seem to be lots."
I shook my head "Mum, I can pay, I have enough money to, you know that."
She looked over to me "I can't let you do that, you have so much to pay for."
I sighed, she always did this, I know it may seem like we have a lot of money, living in a two storey house that's really big, me having multiple Mac products, and a $2000 camera, but I paid for most of that by working three different jobs, sometimes on the same day. Mum and Dad have had the house paid off since before I was born, so all mum had to worry about was the bills. Mum works everyday, but lately they have been cutting her hours down and the support from the government flew out the window after the last damned election.
Anyways, the point is, Mum feels like I have been paying for all of the important stuff, but I haven't. "Mum, I can pay for it, it is my responsibility anyway, you know that. They are my school fees, not yours." Mum shook her head, being more arrogant than she usually is.
