Numb Lake

114 1 2

I close mu eyes,

sleeping on the

bottom of this lake.

It feels like

it's been years

since I was awake.

There is no pain,

no emotions,

only sleeping peacefully.

I know you

call to me,

but sleeping is easier.

You grab my arm,

pulling me up

to the surface.

I resist when

I see the light,

right before we break the surface.

I gasp,

I cry,

I scream in agony.

You hold me close,

wiping tears away,

until I calm down.

All my pain,

all my guilt,

hits me head on.

Your there for me,

the whole time,

never leaving my side.
