Flushed Away: "Oh, Baby!"

Chapter 2 The big news!

Rita looked at herself in her standing mirror, holding up her sweater with her left hand while placing her right hand on her stomach. She turned to Roddy, smiling, quietly chuckling. "I can't believe it. Is this really happening? I never thought I would actually grow a living bubba in me for the second time, but with this one actually growing." She said.

Roddy walked up to his wife and the mirror, holding her close, placing his hand on her hand that's on her stomach. His smile grew bigger, chuckling quietly as well as Rita. "I'm shaking. Like I'm about ready to faint in any minute." He said.

"And the best part is, I get to have him/her with you." Rita said, kissing her husband as he smiled at her.

"Can't wait to watch you help grow our little gem already." He said, kneeling down next to his wife's stomach. "Hello, in there. You may not hear us quite yet, but this is your daddy, speaking to you, and he and your mommy, right here, love you so much. Whether if you're gonna be a boy or a girl, you're gonna be beautiful any other way." Roddy leaned close to Rita's stomach, kissing it gently. Then he turned to his wife, standing up. "I love you."

"I love you, too. Can't believe we're having a baby together. This time, I'm gonna be a mummy."

"And I'm gonna be a daddy this time. We're actually gonna be a family." Roddy placed his hand on Rita's stomach before they shared a kiss together. Pulling away, Roddy noticed something was missing. "We should tell your family about this. Since we know everything is okay now."

"I was just thinking about it since we are having dinner with them tonight." Rita said.

"Do you think they'll be okay with it?"

"Are you kidding? Mum has been pestering us about trying again on having our own for a while, even you. I bet they'll be excited to hear the news."

I bet so, too. We should probably get a bigger place so that there's enough room for the baby, too." Roddy said, looking around the bedroom while his wife's been doing the same thing.

"I agree. This place is pretty small." She said.

"Yeah, it is. Together?" Roddy said, holding out his hand for Rita.

"Together." Rita said, taking his hand while smiling, before they left their apartment, making sure it stayed locked up, getting the boat started as they headed off to Rita's family's place.

Once they got to the house, walking through the door, they were greeted by Rita's parents and all of her siblings, including her grandmother, giving her and Roddy tight hugs before all of the youngest siblings were gathered up at the table for lunchtime by their mother, which took a while, as Roddy and Rita walked over and sat in their chairs.

"Rita! I didn't know you and Roddy were coming tonight." Rita's sister, Ginger, said, giving her big sister a big hug. "I missed you."

"I missed you, too, Ginger." Rita said, smiling, hugging her little sister back.

"What's going on?" Ginger asked.

"Roddy and I will tell you all in just a little bit, okay? It's a surprise."

"Okay. I love surprises."

"I know you do." Rita said, smiling.

After everyone was done with their dinner, Roddy and Rita decided to give out the news. "Alright, everyone, listen up!" Rita called out. All of the kids became silent as they looked at their big sister and brother-in-law. Then Rita's parents and granny all looked at them as well to listen. "Okay, Roddy and I have some big news to tell you all."
