Just like Rachel, month after month, Rodney was growing up so fast. Around his first Christmas time, he started walking for the first time at nine months old and it was Roddy, Rita, and Rachel's best Christmas gift, seeing it.
On Rodney's first birthday, all of his decorations were all green for being a St. Patty's Day baby. Even his cake was green that he got to share with his parents while Rachel gave him a green frosting cake kiss.
On Mother's Day, Rachel and Rodney were walking into their parents' bedroom with Roddy right behind them, carrying a card and flower vase full of flowers while Roddy was carrying a tray of breakfast, as they all walked up to Rita, who started waking up in time to see her whole family, giving her breakfast in bed, which she really enjoyed.
Four months later, Rachel started her first day of preschool. At first, she was nervous and started clinging onto her father's leg, which Rita gave Rodney to him while she started peeling her daughter off of him. She told her play school will be fun and that they'll come and pick her up later. So they walked in with Rachel while she held her stuffed elephant. Soon after she joined preschool, Roddy signed her up for dance class. At first, she didn't like it because it was mostly ballet until she saw her two cousins: Addy and Hallie there. Once they taught her how to dance to their own groove by dancing to "Love again" by Dua Lipa with her. They both started first until at the end, they pulled her in and she ended up liking it before she got really good at it.
On the day of the dance recital, the dance came out with the dancers, including Addy, Hallie, and Rachel. Roddy, Rita, and Rodney each took a seat close to Rhys and Sofia while Roddy turned on his video camera to record Rachel's dancing. After a few dances, the dance teacher, who had a microphone close to her mouth, brought it up closer to her mouth, speaking up. "And now, a solo dance from our newest member, Rachel St. James." She announced, as the audience all clapped.
Roddy lowered his eyebrows before turning to his wife. "She has a solo?" He whispered.
Rita shrugged like she didn't have a clue. "I guess." She whispered before the song "Smile" by Katy Perry started playing as Rachel came out dancing, wearing a purple jumpsuit, smiling during the whole song. Seeing her dance moves during the whole song, including a few backflips, moonwalks, and spins. Roddy and Rita both looked at each other, astounded. Once the song ended with Rachel, spinning and ending at a pose, laying on her side, it led to a cheering and standing ovation.
"Who knew she had it in her? That girl can dance." Roddy replied, chuckling after the whole recital was done.
"I know. It's like I've given birth to a girl Michael Jackson." Rita chuckled.
"Well, she definitely got the moves from you, that's for sure."
"Mummy! Daddy!" Rachel cried out, running over to her parents with a huge smile on her face, which got both of their attention as Rita knelt down with arms opened wide.
"Hey, baby!" She went as Rachel ran into her for a hug before Rita picked her up.
"Did you like my dancing?"
"We did! You were amazing!"
"We got it all on video, sweetheart." Roddy said, smiling, holding up his camera in one hand and Rodney in the other
"Thank you!" Rachel went.
"How did you learn how to dance like that so well?"
"Addy and Hallie taught me how. They're the reason why I love dancing now."
"Well, that's great." Rita said before turning to her husband. "Alongside the twins, I think you helped her find her talent."
"I guess so." Roddy chuckled.
