3rd person pov-
"I can't believe him." Claudia said in between sobs, clutching onto Ashton. He had come over to her house after she stormed off as soon as she and calum came home.
"You know Claudia, from what I'm hearing, it sounds a lot like he stills loves you. And I'm not saying you have to love him back, I'm not saying that at all. But, what I am saying, is that maybe you could use that to maybe figure some things out for yourself. You'd maybe even get to patching up some of the holes that he left in your heart." He said, giving Claudia a weak smile. As much as it meant to her that he was trying to help, it just wouldn't work. Nothing was working anymore. Her head pounded with the thoughts of everything.
"I'm going to grab a glass of water and an Advil, Ash." Claudia got up off of her bed and opened the door from her bedroom before walking downstairs.
Claudia filled up the glass of water and sat down at her table, putting her face in her hands. Thoughts swirled through her head, making her dizzy with confusion. She couldn't get the face of the blonde boy out of her head. The way his skin felt against hers. Or how his naturally light blue eyes sparkled u der neath the shining moonlight.
But was she ready to forgive him?
Ready for her walls to be torn down yet again, possibly leading to another heartbreak? Was she ready to look at his face again without breaking into sobs, remembering all of the things that "he had done to her"? Claudia knew that Luke would've never done those things to her, she knew it wasn't him. But, his face and his being all together were what she recognized with that horrible time. He was the face of her assailant, the face in her nightmares like he had been before the whole ordeal started.
But little did Claudia know, while she was downstairs, Ashton has another run in with the one who started it all... The devil. While Ashton wasn't looking, the devil placed a single hand on his shoulder, scaring him half to death. But he didn't turn around, his eyes remained looking out of the window.
"What do you want?" He whispered, feeling scared but he didn't dare let it show.
"I want you to let me have what I came here for." The Devils smooth voice rolled off of his tongue like venom. Ashton stood paralyzed, confused to what he had meant until his presence was gone.
His eyes widened in horror as he turned around. The devil didn't want something, he wanted someone. Ashton ran down the steps, nearly tripping over his own two feet. He rounded the corner and went into the kitchen, seeing Claudia with the bottle of Advil in one hand and her water in the other.
"Claudia?" He said, seeing her turn around in fear of him being there. She quickly messed with the cap and raised it to her lips.
Ashton rushed to her side, pushing the pills from her hands, sending them across the floor. "No!" Claudia cried, desperately trying to pick the pills back up.
"Claudia stop!" He said, grabbing Claudia and practically dragging her from the pills.
"Ashton!" She screamed, "you don't get it, I want to die!" Claudia had been struggling with her crippling depression for weeks, and today was the final straw for her.
But she wasn't going to try and take the pills until and outside force made her feel like she had to."take them." He said, sliding the pills closer to her. "You'll be happier, you won't be in this mess. You'll be free." But what Claudia didn't know a that she wouldn't be free, not at all. She'd be taken again and that would be worse than before. He was going easy on her the first time.
"No you don't! He's just messing with your head, Claudia!" Ashton pulled her back onto the couch, holding her tightly in his arms. "I'm not going to let you die! We lost you once and we're not losing you again!"
"Ashton," Claudia quietly cried, "Ashton please don't tell Michael." Claudia was broken on the inside yet the one thing she still cared about was not hurting the people she loved. She calmed down and closed her eyes, letting out soft cries while tears streamed down her face, "please don't tell him."
"I won't, Claudia." He lightly ran his fingers through her hair, calming her slightly. "Promise me you won't try to do this again...." Ashton let out a shaky breath, "Promise me, Claudia"
"I promise Ashton." She spoke quietly. She was disgusted with herself, she felt selfish for scaring Ashton like that. Claudia never wanted to hurt him but she thought that was her only option. "You know what?" She asked Ashton. "Maybe one day I'll be able to talk things over with Luke... even if that day isn't soon."
"You're serious? You think you'd be able to do that?" Ashton asked her, feeling overwhelmed with everything.
"Maybe some day."
