Sky's POV
"The Tommo is back!" He smiles that familiar smile. The one that used to warm my heart and comfort my soul. Yet, now the gesture sends shivers down my spine, an iceberg forming inside of me, forcing me down. And down. And down. Petty girls scream his name, ruining my eardrums as they attempt to reach forward and touch a scrap of his clothing. His blue. Striped. Clothing. I glance behind me, scanning desperately for an escape route, to be met by thousands of girls. The force is all too much. A sudden surge in the crowd sends me flying backwards into the barrier, knocking it down and landing in someone's arms. His arms. I warily look behind and into his piercing blue eyes. Before, I used to look into his eyes and see everything, reading him like a book. But as I gaze into them now, I see nothing, a wall blocking his thoughts from my sight. He has no sense of recognition in his features. He doesn't know me. "Whoa, um, are you okay?"
He looks at me as he would to all his other fans, as if I'm no different. I know I shouldn't care but I do, and it attacks my core. I nod quickly before standing up and brushing myself off. I begin to walk to the other side of the barrier as he clutches my wrist pulling me back to him. As soon as I get my hopes up for some recognition, he smirks, "Don't you want a photo?" Unbelievable. Firstly, he doesn't notice me, then he dares ask such a ridiculous question, no, ridiculous demand. I unfold myself from his grasp, pacing down the isle at full speed. The tears begin to roll down my cheeks, and I don't stop them.
Louis' POV
"Don't you want a photo?" I cheekily ask, expecting her to roll her eyes or giggle, since it was obvious she wasn't the type who would obsess over us. Instead, she paces away from me, leaving confusion to rattle my mind. As soon as I caught her, I knew there was something between us, some sort of connection. It was as if I had performed that act many a time before, with her slim body collapsing into me, her brown waves crashing against my chest, her green eyes meeting mine, setting me in some sort of trance. Oh, shit. I know her. "Skylar!" I chase after her, ignoring the shouts and commands of the security men as I entered the small alleyway. How the fuck could I be so foolish? I didn't have the chance to talk to her, all thanks to management with their crap rules and shit regulations, resulting in this, forgetting the face of my best friend and, well, crush.
Texting Skylar was my favourite hobby at the moment, always ending up in fits of laughter or tears of joy once we got into the swing of the conversation. I even skived off some rehearsals with the boys, just so I could call her, just so I could hear her voice. Ben (the Head of Music Management) gets so pissed off when I miss the rehearsals, so I've made it a frequent thing, always aiming to make him go ballistic.
The phone was knocked out of my hand, smashing on the firm, concrete floor. I stared at the cracked phone, utterly obliterated from the fall. I raised my gaze, to be met by Ben's face as I glared at him angrily, "What the fuck was that?"
"That, Louis Tomlinson, is the price you had to pay for skipping practise. You're letting the band down, you're letting me down, and most of all, you're letting yourself down. So I suggest you get out there and sing, because if you don't, this won't be the only thing that you're losing."
"Well from that I've just lost my best friend as well, so what's the fucking point."
"Get on the stage, or I'll show you the door," he spits.
Taking one last glance at the smashed device, I hang my head in defeat, shuffling towards the stage and away from the broken connection with the love of my life.
Sky's POV
"Skylar!" he yells, causing my feet to run even faster. There was no way I was facing him today, not ever. "Skylar, please!" He's gaining speed. I find the athlete within me and run from alleyway to alleyway, my breathing rapidly increasing. I turn a corner, unfortunately to be met by a dead end. I spin, hasty to escape but I'm too late. He's standing directly in front of me. My heart pounds against my chest so loud I swear it's audible. "Sky", he pants, cornering me like a predator and its prey. I back away, increasing the distance between us. My back hits the brick wall, working to his advantage. "Sky, I'm so sorry, I-"
"Louis, save it."
"What? No Sky, just lis-"
"No Louis, you just listen. For months on end you chose not to talk to me, to ignore me and forget about me. You've had a countless number of chances and I've been waiting for you to take them. But you know what? You didn't. You stayed with your exciting new life because of course, you're too good for us now. So you go and carry on with the career you wouldn't have got without our support."
He strides closer, his chest grazing mine, "Sky, it's not like that and you know it."
"Oh do I? Because honestly Louis, I don't think I do."
"Please, just let me explain."
"Explain what Louis? Why you ditched us? Why you ditched me? What do you th-" I'm interrupted by his rough lips crashing against mine, our bodies pressed firmly against each other. I attempt to pull away but his strong grasp around my hips prevents me. His hot tongue glides along my bottom lip causing me to gasp. He sneakily uses the opportunity to slip his tongue into my mouth, as his battles with mine. Our tongues move together in a perfect motion as the kiss deepens. He groans when I gently pull at his hair, lacing my fingers into it. Reality kicks me in the face as I suddenly become aware of the situation I've knotted myself into and tilt my head to the right, stopping the kiss. He moves in to caress my neck, but I push him away by his shoulders, "No Louis."
His eyes reflect pure sorrow as he hangs his head. "Why?" he barely whispers.
I slip through the gap between Louis and the brick wall, making my way down the alleyway before responding, "Because you're four years too late."
