We sit in silence for a while, me fiddling with my thumbs and her picking at the sofa. Suddenly, she stands up, walking over to the coat hangers, grabbing her jacket and mine, and placing them next to our shoes by the front door. "Uh, Rikki?" Urging her to explain her actions.
"I am not having you, Skylar Rose, slouching on your couch all day and getting a numb butt. Let's go."
I shoot her a confused expression, "Where?"
"Now that's simple. Shopping." She grins at me before I jump off the sofa and race towards the door. I love shopping with Rikki, she has the best fashion sense ever and she never bothers with those cheap and cheerful shops. Sure Cat is fun, I guess she just focuses on the cafés at the mall though - count on Cat to maintain a good appetite, yet still stay as slim as ever. A fifteen minute drive leads us to Madison Mall, already buzzing with hundreds of shop-a-holics. Rikki parks outside the entrance near to Superdry, before we both head inside. "Where to, where to..." Rikki scans the floor plan of the mall, available on the turquoise board.
"Umm, Hollister?"
I can see the mental conflict going on behind her eyes, "Alright, then we'll nip to Zence."
"Why Zence?" I pull a disgusted look as I find the cheap lingerie store. Honestly, it's so terrible, it's actually insulting.
"Cos' I can't be bothered to spend lots of money on quality stuff at Delilah's," she says, referring to the best lingerie store around. "I mean it's not like my cousin would do the same."
"Oh," I simply respond. I know Rikki's cousin Casey isn't the nicest of people, however I don't want to bad mouth her, just in case Rikki was joking when she said that. We step inside Hollister, as my eyes adjust to the darkness. Don't get me wrong, the clothes in her are amazing and basically half of my wardrobe is made up of these, yet after all this time I still can't get my head around how dark it is in here. I mean, how the hell do the staff cope? Are they fucking vampires or something? Rikki seems oblivious to the decrease in light as she heads straight to the summer wear and beckons me over. I am not trying to exaggerate in any shape or form, but I have to feel my way to Rikki, using the racks to prevent myself from stumbling over the shadows. She holds up a tight tank top, small red shorts and a black bikini. "Go try them on and I'll be right over," she points towards the changing rooms and turns back around before I have chance to protest. I love it how Rikki's like my personal dressing agent, even though I hardly get a say in what I buy.
I reach the changing rooms to be met by no queue. I find an empty stall and pull the curtain across, obviously for privacy. My gaze travels up and down the outfits I was handed and I'm fairly comfortable with the length. I love short dresses and tops, yet not too short. Rikki prefers the less revealing clothing but she knows my style and accepts it. Cat on the other hand wears super tight clothes that frame her curves perfectly, yet she doesn't intend to be slutty like some girls around here.
A.K.A. Frankie.
Frankie is the best at nothing but being a slut. She struts around the streets like she's...she's...well, like she's it. You know, 'the one'. Doesn't care about anyone but herself, making out with every boy she meets. The amount of makeup she wears is appalling, you can literally see the powder falling off her face. It's a real contrast to skin like mine. I hardly wear any makeup, apart from a bit of eyeliner and mascara once in a while. I'm proud of my complexion and if she can't accept that, then that's fine by me. She always judges everyone by their style, their beauty and their flair, when really, she has none.
I admire myself in the mirror, studying how the shorts frame the curves I didn't even realise were there. The tank top is a bit too much, but I pop my head of the stall to look for Rikki, so I can get her opinion. She's sat on a leather sofa, patiently waiting for me. Her eyes meet mine before she grins at me, "Wow-wee, someone's looking hot!"
