I open my eyes to my father standing above me and considering how much light is shining through my window, It was probably early afternoon."Hey uhm Nella, you need to start packing so we can leave within the next hour or so." , I just laid there staring back at him in confusion.
"Ww-we get to-to go see visit grandma harper today." , He said as he kept tapping my leg with the back of his hand which was annoying me to the fullest. Then, he did the unspeakable thing, taking my blanket from my legs as he continued talking which made me angrier.
"Sso- so get-get up and get ready to leave soon." and with that he left my room with me staring at him in complete shock that I wasn't warned of this sooner.
I immediately checked my phone for the time, realizing that it was just Twelve in the afternoon. Since I knew that he never left without me, I casually took my time checking twitter and trying to understand what was happening. About fifteen minutes in, I went downstairs and sat on the couch giving my mom a stare down.
"Good afternoon to you too, What's wrong?"
"First of all I'm tired right now, then dad comes into my room telling me that we're visting grandma today. Nobody told me this!!!" , I literally did not need this drama in my life at all.
"He said that he told you about it."
"Well, I don't recall this coming up."
"She's your grandma, and your father told her that y'all were going down to see her and the family." , This is the stuff I'm talking about, I'm always forced to go. With straight annoyance in my mind, I face planted into the back of the couch while groaning. I could hear my mother's footsteps going toward the stairs and I knew she was going to go talk to my dad about this.
I went back toward my other Grandma's room since I call my Father's mom Grandma Harper and my Mom's mother, who lives with us, just Grandma. Walking into her room, I sat beside her on the couch while she played her casino slot games.
"Hey baby, you're finally up in the afternoon as usual.", she continued to laugh to herself and realized how quiet I actually was. "What's wrong Nella , if you're tired just go back to bed baby."
"Dad came up stairs and told me to pack and get ready to leave."
"Did he tell you?"
"I don't remember him telling me grandma." , I said in an exasperated voice.
"Well Nella , if you don't want to go just tell him you don't want to go see your dang grandma." , I groaned into a pillow, on the couch, in frustration at this situation I deal with nearly every year. "Nella , if you don't want to go, you don't have to go! Stop making him drag you down there if you don't want to visit your grandma Harper! Nobody is going to force my grand-baby to do something she don't want to do!" , my grandma's voice proceeded to get louder as her determination to get her point across grew in numbers. Then my mom came walking around the corner.
My grandma stopped her game and took her glasses off, facing toward my mother. "Janey! Why you letting this girl get upset over visiting her damn grandma. That lady need to stop having control over ya'll, If Nella doesn't want to go, don't make that child go!." My mother groaned in response from stress, it was like drama like this happened nearly every day of every year.
"Mama, I'm trying to figure this out. You know how Mrs.Harper get.", my mom was getting highly stressed out for probably the twentieth time in the past three days.
