#3 Show Me Love [Mike Bennett]

Chapter 5

JADE'S P.O.V.:

After driving for half an hour Rich was able to find a place to park.

All eight of us happily piled out of the car to soak in the sunlight. Today was such a beautiful day; not too warm and with a light breeze.

We hid our belongings so the car appeared empty and no body would get any ideas and try to break in and steal our stuff.

"Do you think she'll let us explore?" Jasmine asked me hopefully, pointing a finger at June who was locking the car.

"I hope so." I answered, "I could really use some time to just wander around."

"Guys! Listen up!" Tristan said, trying to everyone's attention, "We only have a few hours before we have to hit the road because we still have a rather long drive ahead of us."

All of a sudden I felt someone grab hold of my wrist and yank it, "Nay, where are we going?" I asked, confused. "Exploring!" he answered with a lot of excitement in his voice.

I would say he was just as excited as a small child going to Disneyland for the first time and that might have been an understatement.

We split up in two groups; I went with Nathan, June and Tristan while the rest went with Alice. She had said something about getting tattoos earlier, but I doubt she meant real ones. It was probably part of her list that we were helping her to complete.

The town we had stopped in had a lot of statues which made Tris very happy for some unknown reason. He had been asking us to take pictures of him imitating them for the past hour as we wandered through the centre.

His latest find was an angel doing something that resembled ballet with another angel; June had helped him to reenact this one and I took yet another picture.

"Okay, that's enough." Tris announced, "Jade, Nathan. Your turn."

He pushed the two of us over to the statue of the dancing angels and held up his phone.

"Do we have to?" I asked Nay, "Come on, it'll be fun." he reassured me as he took my hands and tried to mimic the position the angels were in.

A few statues later June told us we had to leave some time to stock up and buy some supplies like food and drinks for on the road.

As we were walking to a local supermarket my phone went off, "Hey Jaz." I said as I picked up.

"Hey. Um, where are you guys?"

"We are just about to walk into the supermarket that Tris mentioned earlier." I told her.

There was a moment of silence at the other end and then I heard some distant voices talking to each other, "You still there Jade?" Jaz asked me after a minute or so.

"Yeah, I'm here."

"Can you tell June we've found a market and we'll be waiting at the fountain in the centre? Somebody in the supermarket should be able to tell you where it is."

"Sure, will do." I said and hung up. I ran to catch up with June to tell her what Jasmine had just told me, "I suggest we get a move on then." Nathan said as he grabbed one of the plastic baskets and headed to the drinks aisle with Tristan trailing behind him.

"Where are we going tonight?" I carefully asked June and I knew the answer before she worded it: "The main part of an adventure is that you don't know what's gonna happen."

"Yeah, but you and Tris do." I argued, "Well, somebody's gotta keep you lot alive." Tris answered with a huge grin on his face.

We filled the basket with water bottles, Arizona and several other drinks to keep us going for quite a while.

"Finally! We've been waiting for like half an hour for you guys!" Rich exclaimed as we walked up to them.

"Well, we got food and stuff, so thank you for letting me die would be a good way to show your gratitude." Nay told him, waving one of the bags in his face.

"Anyway, moving on." June said, pushing past Nathan, "Did you guys manage to explore a bit? Sorry we don't have any more time, but we are already beyond late. I hope I can re-book without any other charge."

"Re-book what?" Mike asked, but June ignored him.

"We did go exploring, so I crossed it off of my list." Alice said, "Plus I bought some temporary tattoos that we can use later."

"Good, so we all ready?" Tris asked, taking June's shoulders and guiding her to the car as he muttered something to her.

"Rich, you're driving." he said over his shoulder a moment later.

We all climbed into the car and I sat between June and Mike. "Are you okay?" I asked June.

"Yeah, I'm just very tired." she answered, "Do you mind if I sleep?"

"Go ahead." I said and a second later she had a blanket wrapped around and her head was resting on my shoulder.

I turned to Mike as June obviously no longer was a source of entertainment, but he was leaning against the door with his hoodie propped up under his head, having a snooze.

Great.

"Tris?" I asked, leaning forward. June groaned in disapproval and then turned to the door on her side.

"I prefer DJ Maxted." he answered.

"You've got to be kidding me." I muttered and then louder: "Can you play When The Beat Drops Out by Marlon Roudette?"

"When you address me by my proper name."

"Come on Tris."

Tris gave me one of his I-am-not-kidding looks and I leaned forward even more, resting my elbows on the two seats in front of me, "DJ Maxted, can you please play When The Beat Drops Out?"

"Of course." he replied, turning on June's iPod.

We drove for around an hour or maybe even more before Rich and Tris swapped. Mike and June had woken up at this point because there was no way they were going to get any sleep when we started to play verbal games.

"June?" Tristan asked, "I need your ID card. We have to pay extra to re-book, but it's not too bad."

I soon realised we had arrived in Dover and we were about to get on a ferry to France. We went through the security check quite smoothly as we were one of the last cars.

When the boat started to leave it was already dark and we were wondering around the deck area; trying to find something to eat and just chill until we had to get off.

I'm sorry you guys had to wait a while for this one. I wrote half of it on the plain, but then I just didn't feel like finishing it; I literally have no excuse.

Anyway! I hope you enjoyed it! They are actually going somewhere: France!!
