#3 Show Me Love [Mike Bennett]

Chapter 2

JADE'S P.O.V.:

We had been driving for half an hour and June still hadn't told us what the plan was, where we were heading or when we'd get there.

"I'm bored." Rich whined and Jasmine patted his arm.

"Can we play some music?" I asked June and Tristan,  and just whoever was listening.

"Okay, I have an idea." June said, not averting her eyes from the road, "All the music we play, we put in a playlist, trust me, you'll want to have it later."

"Fine, whatever." Tris said, taking out an iPod, "Who first?" he asked.

June said something that I couldn't hear over the rustling of the wrapper of Nathan's next biscuit.

I could easily figure out what she said, because a moment later the whole car was listening to Hello, Brooklyn by All Time Low.

"Guys, who wants to swap with me?" June asked us, referring to the driving. I wished I could switch with her, but I didn't have my license yet and neither did Jasmine.

"I'll do it." Mike offered, "You will have to tell me where we're going though as otherwise I won't know where to drive to."

"Is it London by any chance?" I asked, "Nope." Tris answered. I sank back into my seat, defeated.

Where on earth were we going? I liked the feeling of going on an adventure, but I also liked knowing what was going on.

We passed a sign that said we were close to a petrol station and I had a feeling that June would stop there so she could swap with Mike, and she did.

We all got out of the car, Alice and June went to the toilet and the rest of us stayed with the car.

"We should name it." Nathan said, "What?" I asked.

"The car, we should name it."

We all agreed to pitch one name each and that we had to pick one before June and Alice came back.

"I vote Dinky." Nay announced, "Well, I think we should name it after me to keep June happy, so I say we name it His Highness." Tristan piped in.

"We can't name it that!" I told him, "Cars are female."

"Well, then what female name do you suggest?"

"Alexa." I answered, I knew it wasn't the most exciting, but I liked it and it worked.

"I think Speedy could work." Rich said, adding it to the list.

"Again, boring." Mike told him, "How about Lamborghini?"

I burst out laughing. I didn't mean to, it wasn't even that funny, but it was the serious look on Mike's voice that got me.

"Okay... What about you Jaz?" Rich asked, obviously hoping for something more serious as we were running out of time, June and Alice could be back any second now.

"Bananarama!" she said, making Rich face-palm her.

"I like it." I said.

"Oh god! Guys, they're here." Nathan whisper-shouted at us. "Anyone any problems with Bananarama?" I quickly asked and as a response I got a series of shakes of the head.

"Okay, June..." Jasmine said, walking over to her.

"Yesss.....?" she answered with slight worry in her voice, "Your car is now officially named Bananarama!"

Both June and Alice started laughing, like they couldn't believe we gave her car such a stupid name.

"Do I get any say in this?" June asked, "Nope, none at all." I told  her.

So, we all got back in the car, with Mike in the front and June in the passenger's seat, quietly whispering driving instructions to him so our destination would still be a surprise.

I know I had breakfast not even two hours ago, but back then I had been rushing, so I didn't eat much and now I was hungry again, well at least slightly.

My stomach started growling, "Hey, you okay?" Alice asked, "Yeah, just kinda hungry." I answered.

Apparently Nathan had heard as well, "Biscuit?" he asked, offering me a pack.

"Oh, thank you." I breathed, taking the pack of biscuits from Nathan and ripping it open to stuff my face with one.

Chocolate chip, those were the best.

Next to me Nathan just sat there, chuckling at me devouring his biscuits.

"What's going on back there?" Tristan asked,turning around in his seat.

Nathan spoke up: "Jade's just turned into a female cookie monster over here."

I almost burst out laughing, almost. That would have been awful though, the whole backseat of the car would be covered in gross pieces of biscuit. So I'm glad that didn't happen.

"Left!" June suddenly said, "No, Mike, the other left!"

"Sorry, how do I go back?" Mike asked, "Do I turn right and circle back?"

"No, you go left and you circle back."

Was this going to go on the whole trip?

"Should I drive?" I asked, "No." Mike said, "I am perfectly capable of driving."

"And you don't have a licence." June added.

Oh, yeah, she was right.

That seemed like such a stupid thing to forget. Like how could someone forget they didn't have a driver's licence? Only me.

Five minutes later June threw her hands up in the air, "I can't do this, I need coffee. Mike, head to Croydon and find a Starbucks, please."

Around ten minutes later, Mike parked somewhere and we all got out of the car.

Starbucks was only a five minute walk, but it felt like an eternity, I really needed something refreshing too.

June was ordering a caramel latte and told me I should try it, because she thought I would like it. I told her I didn't want to.

"June, what on earth do you think you're doing?" Alice asked, coming up to us, "Ordering coffee?" she said with a questioning look on her face.

Alice let out a long, exasperated sigh, "You have to use a fake name!"

Why? I thought, I mean, there was no difference, I would still get my tea if I used my real name.

Meanwhile, Alice was going bonkers.

She was scolding June for more than a minute now, so I decided to tell the barista that my name was Louise, I didn't want an Alice rant as well.

We got back to the car with our coffee or tea and Mike drove out of Croydon, honestly I wanted to stay a little while longer because it seemed like an interesting place, but June had her heart set on getting to some mysterious place at a certain time, so I didn't mention it.

I just sat next to Nathan, sipping iced tea from my Louise cup, thank God it was really good tea though.

Author's Note:

I know this is not the most interesting chapter, but I had to properly get them on the road, so hopefully, from now on more fun things will happen. Fingers crossed.
