Cleaning up the apartment was a hassle but I got it accomplished. I checked in on Frank the day after the incident.
"Hey. How are you doing?" I asked, sitting on the edge of his bed. He was laying down because he reported that his head hurt.
"I'm okay. How have you been? Has Kristen said anything to you about what happened between her and that guy?"
I stiffened. "No," I said, quavering. It wasn't a lie, she didn't say anything. And she can't. She's dead. "No, uh, she hasn't. I got my stuff from the apartment. I'm staying with that girl I met." Okay. That was a lie.
He raised his eyebrows. "A girl? You met another girl already? When?" He gasped. "It was at the nightclub, wasn't it?"
I nodded. "It was the girl who the purse belonged to."
Frank's hazel eyes widened in realization. "Oh my God, that's the girl you're staying with? I'm jealous." Frank laughed a little and I smiled.
"Yeah, she's really nice and. . .helpful."
"Oh, helpful with what?" Frank asked, a smirk growing on his lips.
"Not like that, you perv. Jesus, I just met her yesterday."
"If you say so."
Mikey was staying with Frank until he felt better. I left Frank and went to go see Mikey. He was in the kitchen, making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. "How are you?" He asked as I walked into the kitchen.
"I'm okay. You?"
He made a "so-so" hand gesture and I nodded. "Frank's been kind of bossy lately." I laughed a little.
"That's just Frank."
"I know. It just kind of pisses me off some."
After talking to Mikey a while, I went to see Frank again before I left. "Your head still hurt?" I asked.
"A little. Mikey's supposed to be bringing me a sandwich and an aspirin to help my head."
"Alright. Well, I'm gonna head out. See ya."
"Bye, Gee."

That night, I could not fall asleep. I tossed and turned and I could not get the pictures of Kristen lying on the floor dead.
I decided to call Hazel. It was 1:54 in the morning but Hazel said to call her whenever. I dialed her number and she picked up almost immediately.
"Hey, Gee."
"Hey, are you busy?"
"Um, no. Why? Is something wrong?"
"No, I just had nothing to do. Would you like to... maybe... come over? We could play Monopoly?" Monopoly? Are you fucking stupid? Jesus Christ, she'll reject that offer in a-
"Sure, I love Monopoly. I'll be over soon."
Hazel showed up at 2:15.
"Hi," she said cheerily.
"Hi," I said back.
"So, do you always stay up at night?"
"Only when I have nothing better to do," I said. She nodded. "So why didn't you get mad at me when I called? Weren't you asleep?"
She started laughing. "No. I just got done watching Psycho when you called."
"Oh, you like that movie?"
"Oh my God, I love it."
"I haven't seen it. I've just seen the shower scene."
She clapped her hands together and smiled widely. "Oh, my God. It's so good. You need to watch it. Need too." After saying that, her eyes lit up. "We can watch it together while we play Monopoly! I have it on DVD!"
