Your P.O.V
You put on a necklace, matching beautifully with dark dress you were wearing. You leaned closer to your dressing table mirror and checked your makeup one more time. As you stood up to leave, your assistant came in, grinning like a small child. "The car is out front, Bruce sent his butler to pick you up. Exciting isn't it?" Your head shot up. "What? Here so soon!"
You ran downstairs as fast as you could in heels. Heels were like Satan's shoes when it came to running and parkour. That was, if Satan did wear heels. "Ms. Dehai! Your bag!" Your assistant shoved your purse into your hands as she led you to the car.
You quickly regained your composure as you passed the door and walked regally down the steps to where Alfred stood with the door open. As you got into the car, Ms. Tunstra ran out the door and waved to you. "Good luck dear!" She said waving her handkerchief. You gave a bashful smile. "Thanks Nana!" You called back before Alfred shut the door.
As Alfred drove away, he started up a conversation. "Now, excuse me for prying but who might that wonderful lady be?" You smiled and gave a small chuckle. "Ms. Tunstra, maid, butler, head of house staff, only house staff. She cared for me before my mother and I moved away." Alfred nodded. "She looks like quite the butler. I can imagine she keeps the house in perfect condition." "Pristine condition." You agreed.
Just then, your phone went off from in your purse. You jumped, and quickly dug through your purse and pulled out the phone. You cringed. "Oh um... Excuse me Alfred. I'm afraid I have to take this." "Please, by all means." You pressed the green acceptance button and began the FaceTime with your mother.
"Y/N Dehai! How dare you not call me at our regular time!" You almost dropped the phone and Alfred gave a silent chuckle. "Mother!" You violently whispered. "I'm going to have dinner with Bruce Wayne." Your mother's face lurched towards the screen, eventually only showing only her eye and eyebrow. "A DATE!!!!" Your mother's voice reached an volume similar to that of a megaphone. "No. No." You said shaking your head quickly. "Purely business."
Your mother's face leaned back, showing enough for you to know she was not convinced. "MmmmHMmm." She said. "Well. I can see your busy so I'll leave you to it. See you later sweatheart! Be safe!" Then she quickly hung up. Your face turned redder than a sunset and you slipped down slightly taking long, deep breaths.
"Mothers." Alfred said jokingly. "They see two meanings for everything but only believe in one of them." You nodded in agreement. "Unfortunately..." You put your hand on your face in an attempt to cool it before you reached the Wayne manor.
~TIME SKIP~
Alfred pulled up to the manor and walked around to help you step out of the vehicle. As he opened the door, you slid out and gratefully accepted his hand. Looking up, you saw the door already open and Bruce and two boys standing there. Alfred came up by your side. "Ms. Dehai, may I introduce Richard and Damien Wayne." You smiled at them. The younger one, Damien glared as he hid behind Bruce, a cold glare in his eye. Richard however, was quite the opposite.
"Pleasure to meet you Ms. Dehai. I'm sorry I wasn't able to attend the party with Bruce as I was attending to other matters." He bowed and kissed your hand. "Well I suppose you are forgiven." You said smiling kindly. Richard smiled back then you turned to Bruce. "I'm sorry you had to send a car." Bruce shook his head. "Well Alfred...." Bruce stared at a glaring Alfred behind you and cleared his throat. "Er- I insisted on it." "Sure you did." Damien retorted.
"Well!" Alfred said chuckling nervously. "I believe I have a dinner to prepare." Alfred grabbed Damien by the ear. "You three can settle in the parlor until I'm done." You watch Damien get dragged away by the old man. Richard gave a hearty laugh and held out his arm. "Damien is known to speak his mind, after all, he is still young." You accepted his arm. "I suppose. Alfred seems to have had quite the experience dealing with children."
Bruce followed you both as you walked down the hall. "Well he has raised quite the handful here. Damien and myself included." Richard replied. You turned a corner into the parlor and sat across from Richard. Just as you were becoming comfortable with your surroundings, Bruce sat himself next to you. You watched him out the corner of your eye as he crossed his legs and leaned back into the worn leather.
Your all sat in silence for a full minute of so, you eyes meeting that of Richards but never Bruce's. You tried many times but he remained stern, eyes staring blankly ahead. You sighed inside your head. This night was probably going to feel longer than the campaign itself.
