Bruce's P.O.V
Bruce burrowed his eyebrows and looked at the secretary and guard's bodies before the paramedics zipped them up. "Hard to look at huh." Gordon said, placing a hand on Bruce's shoulder. Bruce remained silent, thinking. Gordon looked at him sadly. "You saved a lot of lives today. Don't beat yourself up about it too much." The bodies were wheeled away and Bruce glanced worryingly in the direction your ambulance had driven off in. He hoped you wouldn't end up in one of those bags too.
"Batman!" One of the police yelled from a distance, waving at him. Bruce turned and walked over to the man. "The witnesses can be questioned now. Just... Go easy on them ok? Some of them aren't completely stable." Bruce nodded and headed over to a female guard. She was wrapped up in a shock blanket but was still shaking. Her panicked eyes looked at him with fear. "It's ok. You're safe now." Bruce said, holding up his hands.
The women nodded weakly. Bruce nodded slightly and leaned down next to her. "Do you know what exactly The Joker wanted?" She shook her head. "I-I didn't really get all of it. Little occupied at that moment." She forced a smile. "But I do know that Ms. Dehai was involved. It seemed she wasn't keeping up a certain part of a deal..." She trailed off. "I don't know what though. That's all I heard." Bruce nodded and patted her shoulder. "Thank You for your time." He said gruffly before turning.
"Wait!" The guard called out after a moment. Batman turned and faced her again. The guard looked down bashfully. "There must of been a mistake though. Ms. Dehai would never make a deal with the likes of a crazy person like him! Talk to her! She'll tell you!" She said, looked up at Bruce. Tears laced her eyes and her lips were trembling. Bruce nodded. "I believe you." He said before, with a swish of his cape, he walked away.
Turning on his com, Batman called Alfred. "Hey I need the location of the hospital Y/N was placed in. It seems I need to talk to her." "Very well sir. Sending the location to the bat mobile now." Alfred said, voice slightly altered by the mic. Nodding in approved, Bruce jumped into his ride and revved up the engine, swiftly speeding away.
~Time Skip~
Your P.O.V
You heard the steady sound of the EKG monitor long before you opened your eyes. You didn't want to open your eyes. It felt as thought your entire body had been eaten by acid. Your head was foggy and heavy. You moaned and let your head slip over to the side. A hand gently brushed away a stray strand of hair from your face. You cracked your eyes open, cringing as the bright lights of the hospital flooded your pupils. You hissed in a breath and blinked a few times. Slowly, your vision was restored and you looked around at your surroundings.
The room was tidy and bright. Everything seemed to be dropped in white. That is, all but the black figure standing over you. You quickly tried sitting up but let out a cry of pain. Lifting up the blanket, you saw a large bandage over your stomach. "Relax." The dark voice said. "B-batman?" You said, still in a daze.
He looked over at the door before turning his attention back to you. "Are you... Alright? You've been out since yesterday night." He asked awkwardly. You cringed. "More of less. Little lightheaded." Then you gave him one of your best glares that you could in your current state. "But that's not why you're here is it?" You said frowning. Even in your tired state you still despised the masked vigilante, even if he had saved your life.
He frowned. "Afraid not. I need you to tell me what happened to between you and the Joker." You furrowed your eyebrows. "None of your business." You said. Batman tensed up for a moment and you were afraid he was going to yell. Instead, he simply sighed. "You really want more people to die? Two are already dead." You widened your eyes as your remembered the events from the night before.
You remembered the blood splatter all over the walls as the women's brain was invaded by a bullet. Her screams were haunting, suddenly cut off by death. You remembered the laugh of the Joker and Harley as the neck of the guard was slit. You vision faded a moment, flooded with the same color as the blood. "Oh my god." You mumbled, placing your hand over your mouth.
A tear fell down your cheek. "It's ok to tell me Y/N. Please." Batman begged. He put his hand on your knee for comfort. You bit your lip and nodded. "Alright fine." You took a deep breath and wiped your eyes. "The Joker wanted weapons. I don't know what type of weapons but apparently my company had been providing for him without my knowledge." Batman nodded. "Continue."
You looked at the curtained window, thinking as you spoke. "He must of been angry when my father suddenly died and his supply was cut off. That's when he confronted me in my home." "He confronted you in your home!" Batman said, scowling. You shrugged. "At the time I thought nothing of it. He gave me a warning and a time to give him my answer. That's when I told him I rather die then work with people like him." You looked down at your hands. "I suppose he took that a little to literally." You glanced back up at the dark knight.
Batman didn't say a word. Instead, he clenched his fists tights and turned to the wall. Yelling, he punched the wall, leaving a hole in the drywall. You jumped. "Has anyone ever told you how difficult your decisions can make things? Why didn't you just go that anyone for help?" He demanded. You frowned. "I suppose that isn't quite a compliment is it?" You said. "If anything, I probably inherited the behavior from my idiot father." You gritting your teeth, angry. This whole thing was his fault anyway. He was the one who began dealing to the Joker. It was him who cut all of his family off. It was him who abandoned your mother and sister.
"Y/N... Y/N!" You were drawn back into reality by Batman's voice. He stared at you, as if observing a strange animal. "I-I'm sorry." You said sheepishly. Batman shook his head. "It's none of my business but... You don't respect your father. Did he abandon your family?" You frowned at him. "Not to be too disrespectful but I doubt I should talk about family affairs to a man who is to much a coward to show his face." You retorted.
Batman frowned as you glared at him. "I realize" He said slowly. "You hate me. I can respect your decision but I need you to know what I'm doing is for Gotham. Now you don't have to love what I do but just remember; I may not be the hero Gotham deserves but until the day the city is restored to it's former glory, I'm the one it needs." Turning around, Batman walked toward the door and opened it. "Thank you for your corporation." He said stiffly, slipping out without a sound.
You watched him leave, reflecting on his words. You may of not had a lot of respect for anything contradicting the law but he did have a point. You narrowed you eyes. "Maybe..." You said solemnly. Then, sinking into your pillow you sighed deeply and looked at the curtain again. "But that doesn't mean I have to like it." You mumbled before slipping off into sleep.
