"Hey Cassie!", someone screams, but she doesn't budge.
"Did you sleep in the library?"
Cassie wakes up from the couch, eyes squint shut trying to ward off the filtered sunlight drifting in from the hallway. She opens only one; quickly feeling the burn in her retinas, before opening the other and giving into the morning light. She wipes her droopy eyes and puts on her glasses on the side table. The area around her was an aftermath of a tornado, maps, books, and notes circles the overworked Cassie.
She removes the hood from her onesie, "Yeah, I think I know where the portal key is, it's somewhere in a desert structure.", she told Katerena.
She starts to clean up the debris around her. Katerena crosses her arms and sighs, "Cass, I think this search for the portal key is really affecting you. Maybe you should give it a rest."
Cassie stops and looks up at her friend. "But I just found out the location of the portal key! Just please, give let me work on it a little longer...", she pleads.
Katerena looks over, "Look...okay fine, but please no more working all night, it's starting to affect your mood lately."
"What do you mean?", she questions, as she stands up from cleaning up the research.
Katerena levels herself then puts her two frail skinned hands on her shoulders and clears the hair resting on her shoulders. She looks directly into her overworked green eyes, slim bags underneath indicates it.
"Okay, what were you doing a few nights ago when you were in your study?", she inquires, striking her diamond blue eyes into her own eyes.
"...I was drawing.", Cassie recalls.
"Drawing, since when drawing requires you staying up all night, cursing at yourself, and crawling into a ball in the corner?", she inquires again.
Cassie is silent, her eyes twitch around the room, then looks back, body warm.
"Right, you see now.", she lectures. "Now even I do landscaping and taking care of animals of Stacy, I don't do that. This is not normal, you're becoming overworked on this."
She nods.
"See now?", Katerena asks.
Then the door opens and Dan interrupts their conversation.
"Umm...sorry to bother you guys but breakfast is ready." He scratches his hair, which is now a hue of light purple.
She lets go of Cassie's shoulders and turns around.
"Oh yeah, will be just over there.", she replies.
He looks at both of them, and asks something that incites the both of them, "What were you guys doing?"
"Uhh...we were just having a conversation.", she replies.
Dan shrugs and walks away, while the two friends follow.
-----
"So everybody is enjoying their breakfast?", one of Stampy's friends asked, Cassie looks at her apparel, looks like Amy Lee from the painting.
"Yes, I really like your scrambled eggs.", Lizzie claims, drowning in the strong scent of fresh eggs. "Can I have the recipe? Joel would certainly love this!"
"That's kind of a family recipe...", she replies.
Cassie and Katerena sit beside each other in the breakfast meal table. Sparklez and Squiddy both chat, while Stacy sits in a drowsy state. Stampy indulges himself with his pancakes he had made himself.
