"Hey, Sif," you greet when you see her walking down the corridor in her armor.

"Hello, (Y/N)," she replies.

Loki got called to go to some sort of meeting with Thor and Odin hours ago while Jane went to help Frigga with something, so you decided to wander around the palace in your own Midgardian clothes.

"What are you up to?" you ask.

"Going to train with the Warriors Three. Would you like to join us now?"

"Yes!" you exclaim. "But only if I get some badass armor."

"Deal," she says with a friendly grin and leads you to the training space.

"Are swords okay with you?" Sif questions when the two of you get to the closet with the armor.

"Of course. I'm skilled in every form of combat," you assure her, gearing up in the Asgardian attire.

"That's good. We would not want anyone getting killed."

You laugh and follow her to the main area where all sorts of weapons you've never even seen before are lining the walls. Sif takes two swords down and hands you one just as the Warriors Three walk in.

"(Y/N) is training with us today and I don't trust you to properly spar with her, so I'm going to," Sif tells them.

You examine the silver sword in your hand and get used to the weight as the four of them bicker. Sif gestures you to the center of the room and you both take the proper positions with your weapons raised in the middle.

"Go!" Volstagg shouts.

Sif takes it easy at first to evaluate your skill level, and once she realizes you're obviously a force to be reckoned with, she goes all-out. You slam the steel against each other and the ricochet echoes. You go on for a while until deciding neither of you will best the other.

"I like you a lot better than that Jane," Sif says with the sword pointed into the ground by her side.

"Thanks, I guess. You're definitely an amazing warrior," you reply, walking over to hang the sword back with the others.

"Thank you," she replies, then notices the presence leaning against a pillar. "What do you want?"

"Sif, manners. I am a prince after all," Loki replies and you swing around with a smile.

You take off the armor and sprint over to wrap your arms around his neck and peck him on the lips.

"Wait!" Sif shouts. "You guys are together?!"

You peer over your shoulder. "I thought you knew."

"I thought you were his guard as for him not to be able to cause trouble. Also, you are nothing like him," Sif replies.

"I am here for that reason, though." You shrug and Loki, having enough of the conversation, tugs you along with him.

"I was having a conversation," you say.

"Yes, but I have not seen you in nearly six hours. It's my turn with you," Loki defends himself as you waltz down a familiar hallway.

A warming feeling settles in your chest and you take a more serious approach in what you're about to say.

"Loki," you say in a direct voice, causing him to stop and turn toward you. "I want to tell you about my past."

Loki's eyes widen and he nods before taking you into the garden once more. It's starting to get dark, so when Loki takes you to the circle where the fireplace is, he uses his magic to spark the flames. He sits on the couch wrapped around the area with you in his lap, knowing it will be a hard thing for you to share and wanting you to be as comfortable as possible, also meaning he took off his armor.

"You don't have to," he says.

"But I want to," you reply, completely concrete on this decision.

You take a breath and concentrate on playing with the ends of Loki's hair that fall over his shoulder. His hands are resting on your thigh and patiently waiting for you to speak.

"When I was born, my parents didn't want me. They sold me for a large amount of money to HYDRA who needed an infant to test on. They disappeared, probably died, but I was injected for twenty-three years until I was compatible with the serum they already had prepared to be tested. My DNA had to be altered first.

"I was raised by them to fight and be a good soldier with nothing but books to read. They taught me what I needed to know, but I made sure my morals were right. Anyway, after seeing that I was compatible, they injected me with the immortality serum to completely rearrange my chromosomes and DNA, creating the perfect weapon.

"I was put through more tests to see how far they could take it, but I never died. It was merely three weeks later that The Avengers found and rescued me, although I was already planning on how to get away on my own. They were scared HYDRA ruined me, but I was fine and they helped me get through everything."

You still don't meet Loki's eyes as you continue. "I went back to the nearly destroyed base about two months later and managed to find my salvaged file in a steel cabinet that remained untouched. It had my statistics and that's how I found out what my parents had done. I thought HYDRA kidnapped me that whole time, but it turns out I was their property."

"My love," Loki says softly, reaching a hand up and wiping away a tear you hadn't even known you shed.

"But look at me now." You chuckle and finally look up to Loki's eyes. "I'm in a different realm, in a palace with the prince and most amazing person I've met. I think that's a pretty good upgrade."

Loki smiles sadly and kisses your forehead while caressing your cheek. He understands the pain in your heart at the thought of being owned and not loved. It makes him think about his own upbringing and how lucky he had actually been when Odin took him. He would have never had any of this and definitely not you.

"I think you finally made me understand my existence," Loki mutters. "I always knew Odin never loved me as much as he did Thor, but the point is that he had good intentions in saving me. I should be grateful that my mother treated us equally."

"It's so obvious how much they all love you, dumbass. Even after all you've done, they never gave up on bringing you back into the family," you reply, laughing at his playfully scolding face.

"You are right, I just never saw it like that. I assumed they still had other intentions, and in the end, the only thing I truly wanted to do was make them proud and prove myself worthy. I never actually wanted to be king."

"Dumbass, once again," you say. "You were already worthy. There was nothing to prove."

"I think I love you," he suddenly mutters, staring deeply into your eyes.

"I think I love you too."
