For the rest of Mariana's birthday party I avoided even making eye contact with Dominique. Sticking by Mason's side like glue as I greeted and chatted with the parents of Mariana's friends.
"Mummy, tired." Jackie wines as he rubs his eyes.
I pick him up and carry him into his room. Sitting on the rocking chair I have him on my lap and rock him to sleep. As I go to put my little man down, the door creeks open.
I look and see Dominique. He walks to me, locking the door before he does. I sigh, I had been trying to avoid him all day.
He smirks as he sees me shuffle on my feet. I step back every time he steps forward until my back is against the wall. He put his hand beside my head, his hips touching mine as his cool breath tickled my cheek.
He rest his forehead on mine, before lightly pressing his lips to my cheek, moving closer to my lips until he reached the corner of my lips. Making my breath hitch as my heart jumps. He moves his lips teasingly down to my neck, a small involuntary moan escapes my lips as his hot lips press against my skin.
When I go to move my hands to rest on his chest he takes them in his and pins them against the wall above my head with one hand as the other slides dangerously low down my back.
Just when his lips were about to connect with mine, I turn my head, remembering where we were and what was napping just outside this door.
"Stop." I said rather breathlessly. I was expecting a fight, him not wanting to stop, much like Mason usually is, but he obeyed me straight away. Letting go of my hands and stepping back one step.
"You should be with me." He says in a husky voice.
I sigh and shake my head.
"I love him." I say softly.
"And what about me? What do you feel for me?" He asks.
"I think you're attractive and sweet and I'm drawn to you, but, I don't think you and I would work in as a relationship." He frowns at my words.
"Why not?" He asks.
"We don't know each other. All I know is your age and occupation." I remind him.
"But I know you" he stated, I shake my head.
"No you don't." He smiles, not a sarcastic smile or a smirk. A genuine smile.
"I know that you love the colour green, mostly because it brings out your eyes, I know that you like spicy food but then complain when it's too hot, you like white roses because you think they are the prettiest even though you know they symbolise death. I know that just before you sneeze you hold your breath and scrunch your nose. I know you." I blush as he recites all these things about me, some I hadn't even realised about myself.
"But that doesn't change the fact that I don't know you." I say.
"Then get to know me. Mason is at work tomorrow, you and I and the kids will be the only ones home." I bite my lip, my stomach knotting at the thought of Mason. The man I love, that I'm married to. The things I am doing behind his back is despicable.
"I just, I can't." I say before heading for the door and walking out, leaving him there.
