Meeting Natsu

*a few month later*

I knew I wouldn't be able get Vince back, even if I could he made me promise if something like this happen I would go on without him. I couldn't focus on being quite like I used to. I just wasn't the same. He's been my best friend my whole life and he's gone.

i shake my head to clear my thoughts

Someone pushes past me, I almost forgot I was in the middle of the market. Probably not the best place to lose yourself.

A glance in a mirror on sale reminds me how long I've been on the streets, my hairs long and unkempt. I've been trying to make a living as a waitress but that only gets you so far.

"THIEF!" A voice shouts, I look towards the black hood running off. Instinctively I pursue. They weren't running that fast. I would catch up soon.

Suddenly they jump onto a display and lunge for the edge of a roof. I follow after, pulling myself up just in time to see them drop of the other side.

I sigh aloud I sprint after, as I throw myself off the ledge I see the slight surprise in their eyes. they didn't think I would jump after. I smirk.

I land beside them. "You aren't going to loose me that easily" I say

A fist comes straight for my nose, i duck under slamming both fists into their stomach, pulling back before they can react. I leave myself open by mistake.

They kick at my chest, I grab their foot, pushing it towards them, making them fall to the ground, I pull my knife out before pinning them down.

"You can give up now..." I say pressing the knife to their neck.

Reluctantly they hand over what they took, a small bag of precious jewels.

"Now get lost..." I say letting them go. They take off without a word

I look around, I've attracted a crowd. They were clapping

"Good job!"

"You got 'em!"

I nod in thanks I didn't expect people to watch me. But then again, people like watching these types of things don't they?

I have to take the jewels back now. I'd have to walk all the way back. I almost sigh aloud

A pink haired boy with a white scarf walks up to me "Hey, you caught him all by yourself didn't you?"

"Yeah I did..." I say,

"Pretty impressive..." He says

"You think?" I say

"Do you know magic?" He asks curiously

"No, but I-" I stop, debating whether or not to explain my whole story. "I was given certain abilities via magic Implantation"

"You were genetically altered?" He asks

"A little" I say,

"Well I was raised by a dragon to have dragon-like abilities so I feel ya" he replies

"You're a dragon slayer!" I exclaim

"Yeah" he smirks

"Wow, I've read about Dragon Slayers in books before" I say

"You should join my guild, you're technically a wizard aren't you?" He asks

"I guess..." I reply uncertainly

"You have the makings for one at least" he says "come on it'll be fun!"

"Well, I would but I tend to not run off with nameless strangers..." I joke

"Ok yeah.." He says scratching the back of his head "I'm Natsu, fairy tail's Dragon Slayer"

"You're with Fairy Tail?!" I exclaim

"Yeah" he says, pulling a scoffing smirk

"But you're like my age right?" I ask

"15 is old enough to be a wizard, I've been a wizard for a long time actually..." He says

"Eh, you're a little older than me... Name's Astrid"

"That's a good name" he says

"My brother gave it to me..." I say, why am I opening up to him? I just met the guy!

"That's cute, you two close?" He asks

"We were..." I say

Natsu nods "i feel the same about my Dad, he just left me one day"

I decide not explain my story any further "so we're is the guild of yours anyway?" I ask

"Five minutes walk from here" he replies, "I'll show you"

"Thanks," I say, I follow his lead back down the street. "Wait I have to give these back" I say holding up the bag

"Okay, I'll come with" he replies "that thief could come back you know"

"I can handle him" I say

"I saw" he says "I want a shot at 'em"

I laugh "okay then he's all yours"
