The Getaway• Chapter 29.

As I waited for her answer, she began kicking the rocks beneath her. Obviously trying to stall. I didn't want to overreact, but I also didn't want to live knowing that guy gave Hunter a look that practically screamed, "I'm going to tie you up and rape you." Because no, that wouldn't be good. Also knowing that I knew about it.

I didn't know if he was an ex or what, but he was a douche and needed to be slapped. Although I'm pretty sure Hunter would've gotten to that point if I wouldn't have said anything. I guess it's a good thing then, because I kinda wanna ride these rides.

Call me selfish, but she called it first.

After enough rock kicking, I finally groaned and spoke up. "Alright, I'm not getting any younger here, so if you could make a long story short, that would be great."

"Do we have to talk about this now?" She asked while rubbing her temples.

"I guess not, but I would really like to know in case anything else happens."

"Great!" She smiled, giving me a small hug. Which I gladly returned, might I add. "Because I would really like to ride these rides, then go back to your house and stay up all night just talking."

"About what the fuck just happened back there?"

"You're pushing it." She turned to look at me, giving me a playful glare.

I let out a small laugh, and thanks to my height, Hunter rested her arm on my shoulder as we walked.

"Selena, get up." I heard Hunter's faint voice groan. I slowly lifted my head and felt something wet on my cheek. Quickly realizing what it was, I wiped my arm off and checked my phone. 8:57.

I must've fallen asleep, surprisingly, in the ten minutes she was gone. "Sorry,"

"How does someone fall asleep that fast?" She asked, starting the car and letting out a small laugh. I shrugged and flipped through the radio stations, accidentally letting out a yawn.

"I don't know," I replied sleepily. "Maybe it's all that sugar and constant spinning."

"Okay.." She smiled, "guess we won't be doing that again."

"Oh my gosh, preach it." I sighed and let my head fall against the back of my seat. "Especially with that creepy guy, you still have yet to explain."

"Still pushing it, Gomez." I shook my head and laughed.

By now, we were halfway to my house and I was starving. Sugar does not fill you up, I figured that out the hard way.

Seeing the sign of the cafe I went to a few weeks ago, I looked at Hunter. "Oh! Stop there, I'm starving."

She furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and craned her neck to the side. Obviously not knowing what this place was. Which was honestly shocking, considering she's lived here longer.

Once realizing the place I was talking about, she instantly smiled. "Hey I know that place."

"Thought you should,"

"Yeah, my cousin Jared works there." No. Fucking. Way. Hearing that name brought back so many memories, heart shattering memories.

Snapping my head at Hunter, my eyes went wide. "Jared, as in.. Wait what?"

"Jared Venegoni," she said slowly, as if I was a two year old learning my first words. "You shouldn't know him, but yeah he's my cousin. Something wrong? You went a little pale."

"No, everything's fine. I just like the name." You just like the damn name? What has gotten into me? Sighing, I opened my door and followed Hunter inside.

I noticed how she instantly smiled at the boy I had recently encountered, and began talking to him. Once he noticed me, he smiled, showing off his dimples that intrigued me and began speaking.

"Hey! It's you again." He greeted sheepishly. Realizing that I probably didn't tell him my name, I mentally slapped myself.

"And it's you," I chuckled and looked at Hunter, who had her eyebrows raised.

"Alright, you and you, care to explain how you know each other?"

"I came by here a while ago." I replied, scanning through the menu. That day was still clear as day, me wearing just a tank top and shorts. He probably thought I was some sort of tramp.

"Yeah! She's cinnamon roll girl." He chuckled.

I rolled my eyes and told him what I wanted. After staying and chatting for a while, Hunter and I finally said goodbye and made our way back to my house.

Seeing as it wasn't that far away, we were there in the matter of five minutes. Now all I needed to do was make sure I find out about that guy.

(So this is really really short. I know and sorry! I got writers block and just wanted to quickly update. Hope you enjoy.)
