PART OF THE EDITING.
I rubbed my eyes as they adjusted to the morning light. Looking over, I saw that it was almost seven and sat up on my elbows, letting out a yawn. I was not ready for today, knowing what was bound to come, but I was already falling behind in school and needed to catch up. Hopefully I can fit a tutor in, in my free time.
Throwing the covers off of me, I stepped on the cold wood and shivered, the usual morning coldness hitting me. I made my way downstairs and immediately smelt the food my mom was cooking for us. I definitely missed this, more than anything.
Smiling, I slid into a stool as my mom handed me a plate.
"How are you feeling?" She asked, leaning against the stove as I took a bite of my eggs. I shrugged before letting out a muffled answer.
"Fine, I guess."
"Selena, if you don't wanna go to sc-" I cut her off, rolling my eyes and sighing.
"I'll be fine," I reassured her, "Besides I have too much to catch up on, and can't afford to miss anymore." I said, finishing the last of my food, and heading back up to my room. I locked the door and changed into a pair of blue jeans, along with a plain black shirt I pulled from my closet. Slipping on a pair of Tom's, I went to the bathroom and put on my usual makeup, eyeliner and mascara.
Quickly brushing my teeth and leaving the bathroom, I grabbed my bag and keys and said a quick goodbye to my mom before leaving.
When I pulled up, there were a few vans and cameras pulled up to the side of the school, all waiting for my arrival. Groaning, I pulled into a parking spot and grabbed my things, bracing myself for what was about to come.
"Selena over here!" I heard someone shout, along with a flash of a camera. Covering my eyes, I tried dodging them the best I could. I probably should've went in through the back, now that I think about it.
"Where'd you go? What happened?" Another man shouted, walking closer to me. I sighed and walked faster, only making them do the same.
Feeling someone grab my hand, I tensed up and kept my eyes on the ground as they drug me through the crowd, eventually realizing I was inside, and in the quiet, away from everyone out there.
Looking up, I saw Justin looking at me with a concerned look on his face. "Now's not the time," I breathed out, and began walking away. But only for him to grab my wrist and stop me, pulling me back to him.
"Not even a thank you?" He questioned with raised eyebrows.
"Thank you," I said, irritated. "Now can I go? I have more important stuff to do."
"Talk to me." He demanded, more than asking me to. I shook my head and looked down, taking a deep breath. I wouldn't cry, not here, not now. I felt him grab my shoulders, rubbing small circles on them, as he used one hand to tilt my chin up.
"Selena please, none of that back there was what it looked like." He tried explaining, But I wasn't buying it.
Stepping back, I watched his hands fall to his side's, looking hurt. "Don't even try to lie to my face, not after that." I seethed and turned away, leaving him to himself. Walking through the doors, I entered the gym and covered my face, avoiding everyone's lingering eyes.
"Selena, wait up." I heard Mr. Joesephs, our principal call out."I've been waiting for you, sorry about all the people out there. They just wouldn't go away." He said, mustering a small smile. I offered one back, and let him lead me down the hallway.
He led me through the hallways that I recognized. Hallways that I dreaded walking down, and the hallways that I've made a lot of memories in. We came to a stop in front of Mrs. Mars' room and he handed me a stack of papers.
"Here's your schedule, locker, and everything else you'll need," He stated. "Welcome back, have a nice day." He gave another small smile before walking away.
Walking in with a small knock, I immediately noticed Justin when I first walked in a felt my insides churn. How he beat me here will be a mystery to me.
"Selena," Mrs. Mars smiled at me and stopped what she was doing. "Please, take a seat in the back." Of course that would be the seat by him.
I slowly walked back, all eyes on me. Sitting down, I put my bag next to me and pulled out my books. Trying to ignore all the stares, I flipped to the lesson she was on and tried to pay attention the best I could. That is, until I felt someone tap my shoulder and a note get shoved in my face.
'Glad your back, hoemez' I opened the note and shook my head, tossing it back at Ariels head with a sigh. Hearing a cough from the teacher, I looked up and saw her glaring at Ariel.
"Ariel step outside," She said, slamming her books on her desk. Ariel groaned and did as told, walking slowly to the door.
Once they were both outside, I slumped in my seat and saw Justin lean over.
"We need to talk." He whispered, making sure no one could hear him.
"There's nothing to talking about." I replied, not looking at him.
"Bull shit," He said just as the teacher walked back in, without Ariel.
Once I got home, I threw my bag on my floor and flopped on my bed, opening up my laptop. School was awful, and I don't know why I decided to go back. Homeschool is definitely on my list of things to think about.
Opening skype, I saw that Alex was on and clicked the green call button.
"Hey, what's up?" She said, laying on her bed with her feet in the air. Her cat laying next to her.
"Nothing, school was awful. Why weren't you there?" I asked, feeling slightly angry.
"Sorry, I was busy. But to make it up to you, I'll come over!" She smiled and hung up on me.
Sighing, I shut my computer and waited for her to arrive.
