The Getaway• Chapter 12
"We'll be discussing partners tomorrow," the teacher announced as she continued erasing the board. I slumped down in my seat and began fumbling with my fingers as I waited for the lunch bell to ring. "You're dismissed."
And with that, everyone was racing to the door. I grabbed my books and cradled them as I made my way to my locker. Curse the need to have them on the other side of the school.
I carried my soda and sandwich in my hand as I made my way to Alex and I's usual table. Well, one of the two seats left, used to be filled with Justin. Which now I currently look like a loser. I shrugged the thought off as I tossed my sandwich on the table.
"What's up with you?" Alex asked raising her eyebrows. This was going to be an awkward lunch.
"That interview I have on Wednesday." I replied. I mean, it's over with. I wasn't some lost girl anymore. I don't see what the big fuss is. "It's been driving me nuts. I can't even imagine the stupid questions they're gonna throw at me. All the medias gonna do, is twist my words around. Then look where that's gonna get me." I added taking a sip of my coke I brought.
"Hey babe," I heard Jared's husky voice say from behind. I put a smile on as he scooted a chair closer to me and wrapped his arm around me.
"How are you?" I asked meeting his eyes. They seemed to always sparkle. Like Justins.
This was going to be the death of me.
"Great. I bet I failed that History quiz that dumbass teacher gave. But it doesn't matter." It honestly amazed me how he can be smiling like that. Especially with knowing that he was going to fail.
"And yet you're happy about that." Alex chuckled.
"Yeah, how do you expect to pass," I asked. Well I wasn't really concerned since all that was on my mind was that stupid interview. Oh, and him. "If you fail, you won't be able to see me as much babe." I said poking his cheek. I giggled as he scrunched up his nose and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Hey! You aimed in the wrong spot." I smirked.
"No he didn't. Now stop making me feel like the loner friend who can't get a guy." Alex piped in.
I shook my head as Jared leaned over and pecked my lips. "I gotta go. Coach wants to have practice during my PE time. Which is in five."
Waving him off, I looked over at the other side of the cafeteria. There stood Justin with his hands in his pockets, staring at me. Oh god. Here comes those feelings. This definitely wasn't right. I had Jared and I didn't need the one that broke my heart. I quickly looked away and smiled at Alex.
"Uhm, I think I'll go." Alex said as she turned slightly pale and looked behind me.
"Wha-" well this is peachy.
"Hey, Selena." That's when I froze. Why now. I nibbled on my bottom lip as I rested my head in my hands and looked down.
"Justin, not now." I snapped not meeting his gaze. But I could instantly feel the hurt in his eyes. "There's nothing to say to you. And I definitely don't wanna talk to you. So please go."
"Relax," he assured. "I just wanted to say good luck on that interview on Wednesday. I've been on that same show, and all they do is knock you down with the questions. Just don't let them get to you."
"No promises."

"I'm home!" I said as I threw my bag on the couch. I wasn't in definite need of a lazy day soon. But it only being Monday, made that hard. I really wish school started at nine. Better yet; there was none at all.
I looked over as I saw my mom enter the living room. "Sweetie, we need to talk." She said. The nervousness evident in her eyes and tone. I rose my eyebrows as I slowly entered the kitchen.
"What's up?" I asked. Yup, this was just my day. I would guess anyway. I swear - if this is bad news, I'm locking myself in my room and busting my head threw the window.
"You already know about the baby being on the way and all." She started. I nodded in conformation. "Well, I figured we needed a change for once. And that we obviously needed a bigger home." I watched as she sighed. Not really knowing how to explain the whole situation. "So on Saturday, we're moving to London."
