Chapter 3 Part 2: Earth beneath us

Sierra's POV

"Urgh...Eden, you okay?" I voiced out...laying on the floor. "Yeah, no shit dumbass. Of course, I'm alive. Unlike you." Eden retorted, laying as flat as she could.

A knife jutted out of my left side and another three bullet holes punctuated the fact that I was less than okay.

"Hey, you saw anyone? I need an all clear." Eden whispered. The whisper gave it away, leaving me trapped under two more dead bodies.

"Fuck, this stinks like hell. Better move now. More than clear to move without being spotted, Eden." Eden snorted in disgust and rolled over, throwing one knife behind her, impaling a man who had walked over to the corridor and dropped dead.

"Nice one Sierra. Almost took one in the ass." Eden helped me and up and laid me against the wall. Now that's where this ride stops, "speak like that again, you'll get mine in the ass-"

Eden poked the knife into my ribs gently, piercing the skin and causing some blood to leak. "Yeah? Finish that thought."

"Ow..ow ow ow...Okay. That hurt. Why would you even do that?" I half-smiled, half-pained expression, crept onto my face.

Eden snarled, her face in a contorted sneer.

"You...you...creep. I hate people like you. Men, or should I say, boys like you shouldn't be allowed into normal society. Your filthy mind corrupts the very-"

"I was joking Eden. I may be almost unkillable, but not quite. Take it easy." I spat out, no more breath to argue with her anymore.

Eden looked into my eyes, still looking for a reason to slit my throat. "Of course Sierra, whatever you say."

"By the way, that's not a knife." I laughed, drawing my dual swords and struggling to even find a way out of this ditch.

She slid the knife out of my ribs and wiped the blood off on my shirt. I mean, it is my blood after all. Maybe that's a little too gross. Even for her.

Still, Scythe was nowhere to be found.

Maybe he's off finding something to entertain himself with...around this time he had nothing else to do, which may seem like a good idea, but it means that he is very distracted.

After the incident with Sigma which almost resulted in the loss of Miriam as well as almost losing Ace, Scythe swore to dedicate everything he has to take down Sigma. As little as I am confident in my friend, he is still human. But so was Sigma. Even if he was in his peak physical condition, Sigma is just way above his level to even start to compare the two.

Although, that is considering a one on one. Maybe, just maybe, with all our force combined, the fight wouldn't be so imbalanced.

Maybe he can just kill us all with his cards. Those cards are too overpowered, needs nerfing.

Heh. Humour in death is super depressing, awesome stuff. Even if we removed the cards from the equation, he still the best marksman and also the very best, possibly better than the best in close quarters combat.

Training alone wouldn't even leave a chip in his perfect armour. Although, I had tried to reason with myself that there is no such thing as perfect, or indestructible. Even diamond can break, even cut.

Diamonds are not in fact, forever.

Soon, everything will perish, it's only a matter of time before it does.

Three hours later...

"Alright, we have settled the plan. Scythe will take Anarchy and remove the Insurrection outpost on the west side of the mine and provide cover for Dark Force. Dark Force will then infiltrate and remove as much intel as we can. Failure is not an option people. I want all available intel. Afterwards, rendezvous at the east exit of the mine. No civilians harmed on this one. I want this operation to be quiet and seamlessly executed." The general briefed us on our current mission.
