Last chapter guys, let's get it...
Spectre's POV
"Don't move....a muscle...else I'll shoot..."
I felt the cool metal touch my back. A click followed by a spring. The bullet was definitely chambered.
If I moved even a millimetre, there's no denying I'm dead.
"Who sent you? Who told you to come here?" The man asked.
"Wouldn't you like to know..." I whispered, pulling out my knife and twisting it around, stabbing the man's hand, causing him to drop his gun.
"Argh!" The man exclaimed. I took no time to finish him off and killing the other three guards, along with the last man standing outside the door.
Five kills in ten seconds. Honestly not my best work, but it will have to suffice for now.
Apparently, the guards never triggered the alarms, as I was nearly outside the compound, almost two clicks away before the sirens even went off. I smiled silently and checked my mission status.
"One hour left? I really have to work on my timing..." I waited until my partner returned to the helicopter.
"Yeah, you need to make sure you clean up your damned mess. You're leaving too much behind," Cyrus replied, releasing the loaded round in his pistol and drawing out the magazine.
"Mess? Oh please, I don't leave any mess, anywhere," I said, but the man just laughed.
"For the past three years we've been working together, I have done nothing but cleaning all of your messes. Honestly, it's getting worse," Cyrus commented, checking our six, just to ensure we were actually safe while we waited for evac.
"You are surrounded! Raise your hands and drop your guns!" A loud, booming voice came from the forest in front of us, washing us in blinding, white lights.
"Looks like we are in a bit of trouble. You have a plan?" I whispered. The young lord himself said these exact words.
"Yeah, if death is an option. Get ready..." those words were uttered before all hell broke loose. Bullets raining over our heads, we both dived for cover and the young lord opened fire on the men furthest from us, nailing three before reloading.
I summoned my clones and sent them out to fight but the firefight was too heavy to penetrate, easily decimating the clones. Cyrus then switched his fire to the left, distracting the men long enough for me to easy pop two of them in the head and reload instantly.
My clones were weak to bullets, easily stopped and destroyed within a couple shots, so it was no surprise that my gun was doing work compared to the clones.
A couple grenades tossed back into the forest cleared the rest of the mobile attackers with relative ease and suffice it to say, we managed to escape by the skin of our teeth.
The mission was successful and we got back to base safely.
I wish this was true...but I wasn't sure if anything we did was ever for a purpose.
"Alright Spectre, you can lift the headset off your head...take it slow too, it wil take a while for your brain to readjust," The scientist said as I took off the headset and jumped off the bench.
Cyrus was already waiting outside the testing chambers, so I didn't want to keep him there for long.
"Let's go, Cyrus..." I said, walking past him and taking out my pistol.
