Scythe's POV
I looked down the sights and pulled the trigger, controlling my aim enough to unload the entire clip into the target. I dropped the clip and slid in a new one with a quick, smooth motion. I aimed down the sights again and repeated. Bullet casings shot out and fell onto the floor.
I wasn't happy with the results. All body shots, almost none were headshots. I sighed audibly, loud enough for Sierra to pop his head from his station.
"Having troubles with the far targets? Don't worry, I have trouble with those too," Sierra assured me, but I was less than assured.
Spectre is still out there, so is Cyrus. My mind was conflicted. Should I pursue Cyrus? Or go after Spectre? If they really were teammates in the past, maybe there would be some information I could dig up that would hopefully shed some light on their pasts.
Somehow I knew that finding information about Cyrus was easier said than done, seeing as how they both operated under Covert Ops, next to nothing would be kept about them lest a security break happened.
I ignored Sierra and focused on the targets, firing in controlled bursts, ensuring all of the shots landed on the head. I dropped the clip and slipped in another new one. Clip after clip was dropped from the gun as I pumped shot after shot into the target.
Sierra stood behind me and watched as I unloaded the bullets from the gun into the target dummy. I lashed out and dropped the gun, throwing it on the floor. Sierra came over and grabbed my shoulder. I turned around and sighed.
"What's really going on bro?" Sierra asked.
I picked up my gun and paid for the bullets at the counter. I left the firing range with my leather jacket and approached the nearest café with Sierra and ordered my usual, a single macchiato. Sierra himself ordered a double chocolate latté.
I sat down on the chair and waited for Sierra to say something. In the end, I had finished my coffee by the time Sierra had spoken. It's been a while since I've mulled over something as serious as this.
"So what's really going on, bro?" Sierra asked. I didn't know how to answer, so I just sat there...thinking.
I pulled out the ring and placed it on the table. Sierra swept it up in his hands and checked the ring. What he said shocked me.
"When are you gonna grow a pair and ask?" Sierra asked, laughing softly. I heaved a sigh of relief. It has been on my mind for literally as soon as I've had that ring. Speaking of which, I snatched the ring out of Sierra's hand and placed it back into my case.
"What...I mean, where do I ask her?" I asked, clearly distressed. Sierra looked up at the ceiling and I followed suit.
Cass was in the rafters above us, laughing softly. I looked down and grabbed Sierra's leg.
"She saw all of that?" I whispered.
"Pretty much...sorry bro!" Sierra whispered back.
He clearly did not understand the gravity of the situation. This is painful to watch, even for my standards.
"Listen here Scythe. I'm gonna be honest with you because I always am, but it's not rocket science. It's not hard to propose dude. Treat it as the first time you asked her out. It's basically that but with the ring. It's not some firefight or something if she really loves you, then she will say yes, trust me," Sierra offered. I stared intensely at the case and grabbed it, shoving it in my pocket and pulled out my phone.
I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I was really tired, but Miriam's message was the only thing that shot me back into the waking world.
''Meet you at the usual place, don't be too late like you always do hahaha"
