THE HOCKEY GAME
It all started at one of my hockey games. It was a fast paced game and we were losing 3-2. The teams were evenly matched and the score is close. Its third period and my exhausted line was waiting to go on the cracked up ice. I was standing there with my sweat dripping of my face. All ready to tie the game up. When the screechy whistle went my line rushed to the faceoff dot.
I won the face off back to the defence man who was dripping of sweat and breathing deeply . I was yelling for a pass as I skated up the ice. But he passed the puck right to the other team and the other team. They took the puck furiously up the ice and shot. The goalie with his quick hands saved it. The shiny black puck bounced off the goalies yellow and white scratched up pads and out. The tired defence man recieved it and dumped the bouncing puck down the ice where I was skating patiently. It was then I realized I was on a break away with one of my team mates it was “a two on O.”
I went to the far left and my teammate went to the right side of the net. I faked a shot and the vicious goalie fell on the cold, hard ice . The shiny, bent up, red and white net was wide open but instead of shooting I passed. The puck slid across the cracks on the ice . My team mate received it and he got ready to shoot. He wound up to take a big shot, but he whiffed on the puck. Finely, the screeching buzzer went for the end of the game. I skated off the ice furious. I hit my silky blue stick against the scratched up boards.
Later in the dressing room, I talked to my teammate. He said, “I’m sorry man my stick hit the a hole in the ice.”
I forgave him and told him, “Next time I will shoot.” We both laughed about it well we were taking our dripping wet equipment off.
