—Mark leaned against his fence, waiting for Amy to arrive when he saw Felix's car pull up.
"Jack, get the fuck out." Felix told the Irishman, who opened his door and stepped out. He didn't notice Mark for a moment, but when he did he had to do a double take.
They made eye contact for a second before Jack looked away. Mark's breath caught in his throat, causing him to cough lightly.
He noticed the bags under Jack's eyes, the way his arms were thinned out. He noticed the way Jack's eyes were sad, and turned even more sad when he noticed the red head.
Mark continued looking at him, looking away when Ken ran out and pulled Jack into a hug. "Hey, man!" Ken told him.
"Hi." Jack said quietly and Mark's eyebrows furrowed. Jack was never quiet. His voice was so strained, and his normally cheery attitude was now replaced with a tired one.
Ken smiled lightly at Jack. "How are y-?" Felix cleared his throat, causing Ken to stop.
Mark watched as Amy's white car pulled in. "Let's go inside, yeah?" Jack nodded, grabbing his backpack from the front seat before walking in with Ken.
Mark watched, snapping out of it when Amy places a wet kiss on his cheek. He grimaced but tried to hide it, staring down at the blonde. "You alright?" Mark nodded, but he knew he was lying to himself.
He wasn't alright.
