Chapter Twenty Six

I pretty much laid in bed the whole morning. Lin got up around 11 to make some breakfast. Without two kids here, the house was really quiet. I heard the door open and close downstairs and I could hear Sebastian yelling for his daddy. I heard Lin tell Vanessa something, they talked for a few minutes. I heard someone coming up the stairs and then they came into the room. And when my tiny baby girl was placed next to my face, I sat up and held her. Vanessa sat down on the bed.
"Lin told me what happened. Are you okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine, I promise. Thank you for looking after Coral," I replied. We both got up and went downs. Lin was in the living room with Sebastian. Sebastian had fallen asleep on his lap. He smiled as the three of us came into the room.
"I'll make us some lunch," Vanessa said as she left and went to the kitchen.
"How are you feeling?" Lin asked.
"Stop asking me. I'm fine. How are you feeling? You got your ass whooped," I replied. Lin chuckled.
"I put up a little bit of a fight," he said. I laughed. I could hear my phone ringing from upstairs. I handed Coral to Lin and then ran upstairs, I missed the call, it was my mom. I instantly called her back. She answered,
"Saint? Are you there?" She asked.
"Hi momma," I greeted.
"Oh god, honey, I heard about what happened. Are you alright?" She asked.
"I'm wonderful, I wish everyone would stop asking," I replied.
"Okay, I'm sorry. I have news," she said.
"What?" I asked.
"Kai woke up!" She exclaimed.
"Oh momma that's amazing! I'm so happy! Make sure to tell him I love him," I replied.
"I will, I promise. He's still in and out, but he's in the clear and the doctors say he's only going to get better," she said.
"That's incredible. Thank you for telling me," I said.
"You're welcome honey," she replied. I heard Coral crying.
"I have to go, Coral needs a bottle. Make sure you text me updates," I said.
"Okay honey, I will, goodbye," she replied. I hung up the phone and ran downstairs. Lin stood up now trying to soothe Coral, Sebastian sat up on the couch rubbing his eyes. I took Coral from Lin and went to the kitchen where Vanessa had a bottle made already.
"I heard her crying," she said. I took the bottle and sat down at the table to feed her. "Big book release party tonight! Are you excited?"
"I'm thrilled. But I don't know what to wear," I replied.
"Oh please, we'll hit the shops after Coral's done eating!" Vanessa said.

As soon as Coral was done eating and I got dressed, Vanessa took us into town to go find a dress. We went into a cute little dress shop and started browsing.
"My brother woke up today," I said to Vanessa.
"That's great!" She cheered.
"My mom said he's still kind of in and out of it, but he's going to pull through," I said.
"That is such great news!" She exclaimed. We continued shopping until we found ourselves dresses.

We went home a few hours later and started getting ready, Lin included. Javier would take over for him in the show tonight. The party would be in a hotel ballroom. We dropped Coral and Sebastian off at Lin's parents house and then got to the hotel. We all got seated, because it was a dinner and then it would probably evolve into a full blown mosh pit later. Lin, Vanessa, me, my agent Cassie, and the lead guy from my publishing company, Frank, all sat at the front table. There were multiple other tables set up and plenty of people to fill them. There were important publishing people, editors, publicists, press and then some people I didn't know. We ate a fancy steak dinner and had some sort of strawberry cake dessert, Frank went up and made a cheesy speech. At the end of the ceremony and after I made a speech. Frank pulled me away from the table and had two men and a woman by his side.
"Saint! I'd like you to meet Alexa Vega, Eddie Cibrian, and David Gallagher. They're going to play Sammie, Lane, and Brody, the main characters in your book," he said. I shook their hands. And then pulled Frank away from them.
"You casted my movie without me?" I asked.
"Casting day got moved up due to budget things and I thought I'd just go and fill in for you," he replied.
"Look, Frank, me casting my own movie was something I looked forward too. I wanted actors who weren't really known yet. Actors who moved a long way from home to follow their dreams, people like me. They're great, and they'll fill the roles perfectly, but I'm going to have to think about it," I said.
"Alexa is really the only one who's famous. I'd never heard of either of the two men until someone from the casting agency called them in to audition," he replied.
"Just let me think about it," I said again. I walked back to my table, Lin and I went up to the bar to get drinks.
"So... Who were the people?" Lin asked.
"Apparently they were the lead cast for my movie," I replied.
"Which one was supposed to be me?" He asked. I chuckled.
"The older looking male," I replied.
"Oh good, I thought it was the girl," he joked. I laughed. My phone started ringing. It was my mother.
"That's weird," I said.
"What?" Lin asked.
"It's my mom, we just talked this morning," I replied. "Hello?" I answered.
"Saint? Honey?!" She sounded frantic as she answered the phone. There was a loud crash in the background and yelling.
"Mom? What's happening?" I asked.
"It's Kai. He's having some sort of mental breakdown. He's asking for you, he's lost some memory and you're all he's trusting right now. Please, you have to come home," she begged.
"Momma-."
"Please Saint," she interrupted me.
"I'll call you back, I promise," I replied. I hung up the phone. I looked at Lin.
"Kai's having a mental breakdown, he needs me," I said to Lin.
"Okay, let's go," he replied.
"Wait? Seriously?" I asked.
"Yes, your brother needs you. Who knows how long you'll be gone? You'll need to take Coral. And you'll need someone to help you with Coral, I'll go too," he replied.
"What about Sebastian and Vanessa?" I asked.
"She'll be fine with it. I'll call Javier and the theatre and have Vanessa book us tickets," he said.

It all had happened so fast. Our flight got booked, we got home to get packed, we picked up Coral and then boarded the first plane to Hawaii. I didn't even know what I was getting myself into. All I know I that my brother needed me. And family always comes first.
