Jess

It had been a month since Jess had last seen Luke. A month since she had last talked to him. He was back in Australia, on break for a few months. Jess wanted to message him, but wasn't sure what to say. There wasn't much to say. Luke didn't want anything more to do with her and she just had to accept that, as hard as it was.

Her phone buzzed on her bedside table. She reached for it, unlocked it, then clicked on the notification, which brought her to twitter.

Jess felt tears well up in her eyes, but she was quick to push them away. She had to forget Luke. She had to let him go, she knew that. But it was just so hard...

Jess sighed and got out of bed, then changed into a pair of black Jean shorts with frayed edges and a white tank with a black sports bra underneath it. She threw her hair up in a bun and put on a little bit of eyeliner. Then she threw on her black vans and grabbed her purse, then went downstairs to leave, but her parents stopped her.

"Where are you off to?" Her mom asked her.

Jess shrugged. She hadn't had a specific destination in mind; she had just wanted to get out of the house for a bit.

"Well, your father and I have some exciting news!" She exclaimed, giving Jess a wide grin. Jess didn't like that grin.
"Tell her, Dave." Her mom nudged her dad in the arm gently.

"Well," he started, seeming to grow more and more excited each beat he waited to spill it. "I got a job offer in Australia...and i accepted it!" He smiled in excitement.

Jess froze, her jaw dropped. "Australia? Wh - what city?" She was afraid to ask. She didn't know if she wanted to know the answer to that.

"Sydney!" Her parents cheered in unison.

Jess felt her heart sink. Moving to Sydney meant that she would have to face Luke at some point, and probably his awful girlfriend as well. At least she would get to see Michael and Calum again.

"That's great news dad! Really," Jess smiled and hugged her father, although she didn't feel a bit excited in the slightest. She decided to shoot Michael and Calum a message in a group chat.

Jess knew that she didn't want Luke on the group chat, but she couldn't say anything with Luke in the chat; it would just be rude. So she just decided to let it slide and try not to really talk to him.

Jess tried to not take Luke leaving as anything personal. She shook it off and went back to talking to the boys.

Jess smiled for the first time in weeks. She was actually happy to go to Australia. She would get to see her best friends again. She knew how tough it would be seeing Luke, but she also knew how much fun she would have with the other boys.

Surprisingly, she couldn't wait to move to Australia.
